Now that's fantastic news. The UT soundtrack is an electronica classic.

After looking it up, my two favorite UT tracks actually weren't done by Alex and Michiel. ;) This one is my favorite track from them:

Hmm is there a place you can download the original/OST soundtrack from?

I would rather pay for the game and have the mods for free, tbh.

I would, too. However, knowing the UT community for as long as I have I got a feeling a lot of it will still be free with donations to support the developers at your will.

Ditto, but it almost feels like Epic can't follow that model without pandering to the demands of AAA publishers, which is effectively why UT3 was so mediocre.

If this new community driven model delivers a game which actually accommodates the community and leverages the advantages of the PC platform then I am more than happy to give it a shot, because most other AAA developers sure as hell don't give a shit about developing PC games which aren't in any way compromised by considerations required for console development.

And is the reason why this one wont be mediocre, NO AAA publishers! :D

Don't get your hopes up too high, though. This IS the company that has very blatantly and publically given PC gamers the cold shoulder for the best part of a decade.

No lets be more specific, that was Cliff Blizinsky who created that mentality for EPIC games. He was a git and I'm happy he left 2 years ago after UT3 was released.

Mark Reign has always been a little more PC community oriented however when CliffyB was there he kinda hid in the shadows.

Chance it's a troll post? I hope not. Amazing what really good artists can do. 308 replies since 3 days ago just on the topic of MUSIC that tells you how perfect that music was for it's purpose, and tbh I feel like as big a fan of michiel as anyone else. But imagine IF just IF the new UT will be as good as the original but in modern day tech.. oh my gawd. :p Damn I'm getting excited now. I don't want to be disappointed anymore but I have to say as a fan, if they do join i'd probably buy it no matter what just to hear the tracks they came up with this time.

I play UT almost every weekend. Mostly Sundays, but I sometimes get a Saturday in as well.

The server I play on it hosted by a friend of mine. It's a 155% game speed, 55% air control, instagib capture the flag with low gravity. Fast paced with lots of action.

just thought id let anyone know who enjoyed ut3 and considering re installing.
the game actually has more life now, you can find a almost full dm game throughout the day.
might have something to do with the game being on steam or the news about a new ut made people want to play again.

Double jump was a good mechanic because you could dodge into a jump and keep momentum. One big jump instead doesn't seem like it'd work quite as well.

Double jump + wall dash, dodge + jump. It's all super easy compared to Quake. Why can't we just have that again? UT2004 was so good. UT2003 overboost jump was not my thing.

I'm not even sure you could have many of the neat ramp jumps, like on Rankin, without UT03/4 style movement.

You'd have to get hurled really hard by the dodge, or it would need to be less severe of an incline maybe... neutering movement is not the way I want to go, but people have a megachub for UT99.

It's best to wait for the Unreal Deal Pack to go on sale. You can generally get all the Unreal series games for around $10.

Fucking noobs, man. Sadly, I think Epic is going to make it super accessible by levelling the playfield by tying everyone's hands. That'll show them nolifers with their skills..........................

Well the nice thing about the way they are building it is we can always make a UT2k4 movement mod.

First deathmatch round played on the new UT!

Love that they are being so open with the community, the way the industry has become so clandestine and PR focused seriously gives me the shits.

It concerns me a little that we see EXTREMELY alpha-looking footage and they say "we'll be getting the game out soon"...
