unlocked 290x and 290

just picked up two XFX 290s tested and got one unlocked.
Anyone know whether I can CF unlocked 290@290x and locked 290???
btw I used asus 290x bios. thx

I don't see why not. It should work the same way as their previous generations.

No he means he unlocked disabled sharers on his 290 to make it a 290x.

To the OP - why don't you plug them both in together and tell us? I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work as 290s are able to be xfired with 290x's

haha this is funny. i xfired them and it seems like they both are using 2560shaders... unlock became meaningless. lol

yea i think when you crossfire, it matches the lower card.

What possible outcome would it be? Why would both cards run at full shaders when only one of the cards are unlocked. Whats wrong with crossfire 290s? You get what you paid for am I right?

I don't think a 7970 downgrades when you xfire with a 7950, but it seems like unbalanced cards would just make microstutter worse. Two 290s will beat the snot out of anything short of Ultra/4K anyway.
