Actually I may have spoke to soon. The second one was broken. It lights up fully zoomed out but the zoom settings don't work, can't zoom in at all. Not even sure if it's worth the hassle of returning it.

The zoom is controlled by a metal ball and spring. I bought 5, only tested 3 so far. I also bought batteries per link by noxtek and was surprised by how large they were. At first I said fuck this isnt going to work and thought about emailing the seller. Then I took the AAA battery holder out and popped one of the large single batteries in and bam! It worked, charging 4 batteries I bought with the two chargers as I post this.

Bought 4...2 are broke. The issue is that the zoom ring or whatever you call it no longer turns and whatever position it was in at the time it failed, that's the light output you get. The first one broke the day I received it. The second one broke a week later. Honestly haven't used the other two at all. Still have no idea how to fix the ring or if it can be fixed. It's just locked up.

    Same here.

Bought 2 and 1 was broken at the same ring.

He sent me another for free and told me to keep the broken one. Otherwise all good. I like the lights and have had no other issues.

Well, you probably insert them straight in and out of your butthole instead of vigorously plunging them around like a farm girl churning butter. At this price point, I'm not sure that they are built for the latter. For that, one might want to step up to something like a Fenix or (for the more "experienced") one of those big MagLites.

Bought two. Both units the zoom broke by getting stuck. Fixed them once but then it happened again so I said fuck it and left the focus where it broke.

Both lights seem to have good battery life, I haven't charged them since I bought them. I only use them occasionally and for short duration.

Overall they aren't bad, but the zoom is worthless.

Obviously not on par with some of the more expensive lights but I also have a Thorfire C8s and it is a beast. For $19.99 from Amazon, it's awesome.

I bought 4 in May. Zoom's not smooth in 2, but they all work. Actually, I gifted 3, so I think they still work. My keeper does.

They're not amazing lights but definitely crazy good value. At this price, just buy an extra couple. If you need a reliable daily carry or glovebox light, spend more.

Totally normal. The diode itself is square, so the light is square and crisp, but it diffuses as you adjust the focus into a round blurred light. The perfect square light projection is good for when you need to spot light something super far away, and believe me, that works.

But it most certainly is BS on light output though.

Ok I have bought several of these and can comment on the pros and cons.

The short story is, the guy 2 houses down in a big time hunter / fisherman. He lives with one other guy and some woman that is always gone because she is a trucker.

They hang out a lot in the back yard listening to classic rock and drinking beer. So I had one of these and was testing it out in my back yard in the dark when he yelled over and said, what the hell is so bright over there. I ended up selling him and and one other guy 2 of these flashlights I had just bought for $40 each. lol. They have a bunch of random friends over and I've sold maybe 5 other people these flashlights for $40 - 50 each. People love them.

Ok, so there are a few big problems with this flashlight as I've had several.

The focus ring is not well designed in that it does get stuck and won't focus. It's solid, but it does lock into one place from time to time. I found that holding the flashlight vertical and shaking it up and down "sometimes" works.

The worst thing for me is that it's insanely bright ( a good thing ) but for only the first 5 or so minutes then it drops it's brightness level down ... substantially. BUT .... it's still bright. I'm guessing this has to do with the cheap batteries they sell.

The Pros: It's very well built. The button does loosen up a bit if you use it a lot but still continues to work. My friend said you have to hit the button dead center after awhile but it does turn on. When new, the power button is sensitive and can be turned on with an off-center push.

It's not small at all. While not huge it's easily the length of a cell phone, a larger one and pretty thick. It has a nice weight and solid feel to it. I was very pleased with that.

It's cheap and it sells itself. I've made maybe around $400 dollars with only a $75 dollar investment.

This does not come with batteries or a charger. I strongly suggest you buy 6 or 8 of these at least and then buy the chargers and 8 batteries. Your looking at $75 dollars or so BUT ... selling 2 of them gets all your money back and they sell pretty easy to friends and whomever.

What these lights have is a "zoomable" lens that allows you to change the throw. This is the zoomed in style and the "square" you're seeing is actually the LED diode as it is in the light.

When you push the lens back to normal you get a nice normal flashlight, I own a few of the smaller "Ultrafire" 200lumen lights. For reference the switches are shit, the lumen output isn't what they claim, I doubt the LED diode is actually CREE but I haven't taken one apart to check yet. That being said for the price it's a decent light but nothing I'd trust my life to or trust enough for an emergency kit.

For me it's good enough for the "Use so I don't step in dog shit at night" flashlight and I'm pretty happy with the smaller ones I have.

I'll have to get the name from the light (assuming I can find it LOL). I don't see the walmart listing, but then there are over 10 pages for "500 lumen"

can someone give me an idea about SAFE 18650 cells that are a deal?

I read not to buy any 18650 cells that end in "-fire" (ha) despite the two for $9 deal the other day, so skipped those

but now I need a couple and a charger - how much do I have to spend to get a decent set that won't burn my apartment down?

how about this 18650 deal - protected cells with a charger and about $41 if you use the subscribe and save

    https://www.amazon.com/EASTSHINE-E35-Protected-Rechargeable-Flashlight/dp/B0157XLN0A/

fakespot gives the product and the company a grade A, which I have actually never seen an A before, so either good fake reviews or a good product?

    $20 a cell though, ouch

oh wait, just the two batteries are $12.50

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0154NRFVE/

can I get a cheaper charger that's safe enough?

oh wait, the two batteries get a fakespot grade F - wtf is up with that

oh wow, I tried the $9 for two thorfire with charger off amazon (use the coupon code at bottom of the page)

    these 18650 flashlights are amazing

blows the free Harbor Freight flashlights out of the water

I wish there was an "extra low" mode though so the runtime is several hours (I know it has like a 2-hour low mode)

I need those flashlights with the sharp teeth.

It's a breech light. If you're a tactical operator you need them.

They started making those flashlights to look like breach muzzle flash hiders to make them look "tacticool".

A Breach flash hider for shotguns has that "tooth" look to them. That way the muzzle can be placed on a locked doorknob and fired so gases can escape the sides while allowing the slug to blow the doorknob out the other side, thus you gain entry.

The firearm community started using that look on everything, including flashlights, to look "tactical".
Its like putting a picatinny rail on every damn surface of a gun, its for looks and it can get out of hand.

I definitely want this light though.
    Good value.

I've become a fan of this $2.50 model with the red ring in the front, because the ring glows, which makes it great for lighting up the front of the bicycle to the sides and bottom, which a regular 18650 light does not do and is pitch black to the sides:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/322058303093?var=510990823184

there is a $2.60 model with five modes too but I like not having to constantly cycle though all the diffferent modes

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/201558345575

holds a protected length battery just fine

the lumens claims are getting way out of hand, no way any of these are 3000, 4000 and definitely not 6000

some other sellers are only claiming 270LM for the same bulb and battery which is ten percent

if anyone knows of another model with a glow ring, please let me know?

I bought this Opus BT-C3100 http://www.gearbest.com/chargers/pp_174044.html? after reading quite a few threads on candlepowerforums (and another site, budgetlightingforum) for inexpensive but reliable (and safe) chargers. I needed to regularly charge a half dozen D cell batteries when my daughter was born so I bought a couple adapters but they took too long. I eventually ended up buying a Maha for around $100 but the year or so I used the Opus it was excellent.

I still have the Opus sitting on the shelf in my office but haven't really had a use for it for a while.

Those two sites I referenced will have copious amounts of info regarding battery selection, too.

Ridiculous. And Ebay protects the seller by not allowing me to leave feedback. Dumb as fuck.

stuff from china during xmas can take like 25+ days to show up - it might still appear

but these days there are a ton of other T6 18650 flashlights on ebay that are better deals than the original post in this thread
