UK to Use AI to Combat Online Terrorist Content

The Home Office, which is part of the UK's government, is getting into Artificial Intelligence and using it to identify terrorist propaganda video before it gets distributed on the internet and used to develop home grown lone wolf extremists. Home Office is working with ASI Data Science to implement this technology.

Tests have shown this new tool can automatically detect 94% of Daesh propaganda with 99.995% accuracy. It has an extremely high degree of accuracy, for instance if it analyses one million randomly selected videos, only 50 would require additional human review. The tool can be used by any platform, and integrated into the upload process, so that the majority of video propaganda is stopped before it ever reaches the internet.

"Daesh" is the Arabic name for the group. ISIS means "Islamic State in Syria", and ISIL means "in the Levant". Levant is an old term to describe the general geographical area, which is probably more accurate since they spread out of Syria some time ago.
