I have both the 8800GT 512Mb and the 8800GTS 512Mb cards, if I have to pick one and the price between them in negligible which one should I grab and why?

Thanks.

If the price difference is negligible, definitely grab the 8800 GTS 512. Up to 1600x1200, it performs as a 8800 GTX/Ultra and as Abu Som3a said, it has a better cooling solution than the 8800 GT.

Now it just got a little interesting.
the 8800GT just ran 3DMark06 (2) cycles stable at:

And the next test is:

It went higher but haven't tried to see if it was stable, memory got upto its limit at 1140mhz. going to try and run that now.

GT stable @ 735/1140 would the GTS still be better?
got just shy of 12K with a E6600 at 3.0 and 2gb ram at 667mhz (not dual channel)

The GTS is about 10% faster than the GT. iirc it simply has more stream processors or something. They're both G92s. The diffrence between the two is the GTS is 10% faster and normally costs about 10% more and theGTS has a MUCH better cooler. If you can afford the small preimum, with out a doubt get GTS.

I aleady have it confirmed working at 750core/1875shader/2280mem (memory lever doesn't let me go any further :p)

I guess the only way is to test them both :p.

Ok so.

8800GT @ 750core/2280/1875 =11.8k
8800GTS @ 781core/2333/1937=12.3k

The score should go up a notch once the other 2gb stick is added (appears to be defective) giving 4gb and dual channel.

I think the GTS will play games better. And it has better power delivery, and better cooling.

This is good to hear because I am planning to upgrade from my dual 7600gs's and was wondering about which of these two were the better of the two if they were both in the same price range. Thanks, this makes the decision a hell of a lot easier.
