If I understand this correctly, an administrative employee at Twitter had their personal e-mail info compromised. That incident lead to top secret Twitter documents being stolen. Now there are unscrupulous websites around the internet threatening to post them and Twitter is mad about it. Here come the lawyers.

We are in touch with our legal counsel about what this theft means for Twitter, the hacker, and anyone who accepts and subsequently shares or publishes these stolen documents. We're not sure yet exactly what the implications are for folks who choose to get involved at this point but when we learn more and are able to share more, we will.

Honestly, what could Twitter possibly have in terms of secrets that someone would remotely be interested in or share. Are they afraid of a new ad based system when you have to view tweets? What could it possibly be of any relevance that it would require legal action? What possible type of IP could they have that anyone would give a shit about. It's not like there are twitter competitors out there, are there?

LOL a website/service designed to spread information (legit or not legit info) quickly is pissed that someone wants to spread their info.

:::::::TOP SECRET:::::::

We will be moving to 160 characters effective 01-01-10

It amazes me that any company running such a site, that is undoubtedly aware that security issues exist which havent been found yet, will put/use sensitive documents in a place which is bound to be a direct target for hackers.
Stupidity.
Keep sensitive stuff to none public facing portals.

What could Twitter be hiding of significance? lol.. the site is insignificant on it's own, much less any private documents it could have.

I'm surprised that Twitter being hacked via Google Apps wasn't even mentioned [h]ere in the news section.

Twitter?! I don't even KNOW her!!

Seriously, why this site, service, crap, whatever it is, is popular is beyond me. When I looked into it, all I could come up with was "huh. I don't understand."

Post the secrets, I say! They can't be more than, what, 160 characters? :cool:

Is this one of those threads where grown men ironically complain and ramble on incessantly about how lame Twitter is?

maybe they were storing their bank account info on the site, or their employees SSN numbers.
