Twitch Majorly Leaked

No , it's not. It's a game anyone can play at home on their ass.

This is more equivalent to a post-game Sports Commentator (there are thousands of those, spread out across all sports, and they are paid purely to look nice and waste people's time spurting the same old recaps / stale insights , in front of the cameras).

Most of these streamers are playing a game on camera that they have already pre-practiced and written commentary beforehand - not exactly a "new sporting event with real unexpected twists " like a football game.

If you think that ESPN Is a good value cable package , then you might be a Streamer Addict.

You have no idea what your talking about.

Twitch streams are like a chatroom where you hang out and interact with the streamer. A chatroom with a host. Some are pre-planned. Some aren't so much. Some are comedians while others are far more serious.

There are pro streamers like LordBBH who 1cc's arcade games
.

Or Lowco who is covering twitch issues like this breach.

There's people like Vargskelethor

who essentially like screwing around and making great jokes. There's a pro poker player who streams on twitch, Lex Veldhuis

Not the same. At all.

Its also a big misconception that these people are lazy. It takes a lot of dedication, planning, consistency, investment (monetary, time, freedom, etc), to build and maintain a full time or even half-time career, as a streamer and/or youtuber. Most of these people have teams helping them behind the scenes. because doing it all on your own would likely lead to overworking yourself. Its a business. And its one which changes constantly. They have to be able to absorb and adapt.

Indeed, some of those whom have been around for 7 - 10 years, may have a slightly easier time of it all. But there is still plenty of hustle going on, to maintain it. And anyone newer than that, is working very hard. The specifics of what "hard" means, may not match up with a more classic occupation. It is a lot of work, all the same.

Video killed the radio star. Every generation has some new twist on entertainment that the previous generations can't stand. We are all starting to get old and cranky lol. I will still argue with my parents that Ren & Stimpy was not senseless trash!

I can admit I am jealous that I do not have the personality or talent to entertain others in such a way. Love to tell jokes and make people laugh but even being in a discord channel with a bunch of people makes me nervous and quiet. I hope many of them can continue to be entertainers. Many comedians go through the same short lived fame or just flop entirely.

I just want to know what these people will do when the rug gets pulled out from under them. Recall the glorious freakout when OnlyFans was going to ban sexual content on their platform until they pussied out and caved to pressure.

I would imagine it is the same for many hollywood bound or pro sports bound people, some can keep going most do not. I hope the best for them and that they picked up some skills from this. Not everyone will but it is the same as even those that go through college. Nice thing is they do have a good taste for being a personality and even a skillset of audio/broadcast equipment and setup. I still struggle with my damn mic on disc hhahaha

I never understand this statement. Its the SAME exact thing of 50,000 people going into a stadium to see a ball toss, thrown, kicked around by a group of people....just a video game vs a ball. I do think the "tipping" such as bits is a little silly and potentially out of hand. I occasionally throw some twitch channel on in the background during my workday as background noise...pick up some tricks, etc.
An other point of view to be able to understanding it if someone do not, if you are old enough you probably did leave in a much more poorer electronic-gaming device time and you probably did watch a sibling-friend play game and vice versa, some where has fun to watch and comment on if not more.

That said the sport comparison is more than enough when we talk about human vs human gaming like a starcraft tournament.

I was about to say "there's always only fans" but yeah the freakout was real one of my university friends was having a meltdown since she makes a decent chunk of change a month showing her goodies on onlyfans. In her defense, she still has her day job but can't say the same for a lot of them.

Why do people watch pro or college sports and idolize them? Hollywood?
To be clear, I don't watch any sportsball. I do not idolize athletes or movie stars. Most Hollywood actors that take to social media only prove one thing. The vast majority of them aren't smart enough to pump gas or cook me a meal. They have a singular talent (in some cases) and most are far from worth my admiration. There are exceptions of course to both things, but I don't understand the hero worship any of them get. If I don't understand that, it's no surprise why I don't understand people fawning over Twitch streamers.

They never caved because it was a marketing campaign from the jump- tailor-made for the clickbait industrial complex to do all the work for them - outrage spreads itself. Was always horseshit.

They wouldn't just kill their money printing machine, way too much money being made on the XXX stuff. But they want their cake and eat it - to try to modulate their image as more mainstream softcore friendly. They're just testing.

Why do we need live streaming for this, when we have had pre-recorded playthroughs on YouTube for over a decade?

Twitch has nevert mde sense for me, except for peoppe who truly have no life, and ut it on in the background constantly.

Twitch = Hallmark Channel reality tv.

because maybe some people are actually pretty entertaining to watch/listen to while they play?

So from what ive gathered. The revenue list is purely subs. Its not donos, bits, ad revenue or anything else so the numbers are quite low. Also the revenue data is from August 2019 to now. So divide those by 2 for the yearly amount of just subs.

My response: Good on them for hustling and making that bread. There are about 20 streamers i watch/follow on there and im happy for them. One of them made 800K on the list and still works a day job. Not many of them just blow the money. And before this youd never think they are worth what they are. I had somewhat of an idea cause you can look at subcount and do some basic math to get a very low number.

So are those all gamers? Or THOTs who use the platform to play in an inflatable hot tub on camera

Fair.

The problem with many who find celebrity and wealth young are they think it will never end. They don't make any other plans (education, training etc.) and blow their money on stupid things rather than saving it and when it is gone they spend the rest of their lives feeling sorry for themselves.

I'm less worried about these morons specifically, and more worried about society as a whole. You know there are kids in middle school all across the country looking at this list dreaming of buying a "Lambo" and using it as an excuse why they are doing poorly in school.

This list would be much better and more helpful if it showed all those who didn't make millions as well, and could be used as a teachable tool to illustrate just how lucky a few are on this top list to show it's really no more likely than winning the lottery.

That’s really no different from people I grew up with long before this. Always going to be kids making grand plans without a real plan.

Matter of fact got several friends from school approaching 40 still trying to figure out how to do it. Some thought they’d do it from going pro sports. Others through music. 1 thought he could become a professional poker player. It’s a deeper, more systematic problem than younger generations seeing it from Twitch, etc.

Here is a quick and dirty list by searching "hot tub" on twitch and copy pasting stream account from results netted for obvious e-girls based on thumbnails.

Amouranth - $1,363,346.32

TheNicoleT - $193,964.22

Leynainu - $100,681.07

ElisabeteTV - $141,754.31

TheDanDangler - $377,766.54

might have to have a talk with the GF.

Not understanding why someone does a particular thing and trying to understand it doesn't equate to anger. I really couldn't give two squirts of piss what someone else does with their time.

Your posts certainly come across as more angry than “hm I’m not sure why people are interested in watching twitch”.

I also didn’t tag you, so not sure why you’re responding to a post about people getting upset over what others do with their time.

I never got interested in twitch but I’m not going to talk shit about people who are. I really like Muay Thai and kickboxing but I can certainly understand that there are people that don’t want to get punched in the face.

Twitch got leaked, and leaked hard: source code in its entirety -- not only Twitch's, but other Amazon/Twitch subsidiary projects like Amazon's Steam competitor, et al -- login/payment data (change your P's and 2(FA)'s), and the real juice: streamer payout data. It was no secret xQc was making bank, but not to this extent of a slamdunking (these are merely Twitch-earnings, too):

Wouldn't hurt if Twitch's infamously all-seeing eye of anti-adblock source happens to be a part of this.

People really make this kind of money by having other people watch them play games? We really have become a society of followers and not doers.

This sadly has become the norm. Adding more and more to my ignore list daily. Plenty of other reasons to still come here though.
To be fair to the old people. When they were the average age of twitch watchers they were being indoctrinated by Sesame Street and so now they have all this bias hard coded into them so they don't get it. Or the really old ones were forced to watch those scary how to behave videos in school.

It's an easy way to skip a tutorial and see how to get into a game faster. Plus, like others have said, the people making this kind of money are professionals running a small business with staff and everything. They can be teachers, entertainers, a bunch of things.

I hope that I am not thrown into the "angry old dude" club but the statistics on childhood obesity are shocking and more of watching others do things does not help.

I think it’s just confusing for some people to understand. The platform has also changed a lot.

I sit on my butt all day eating candy, staring at a screen, and I'm fine. The screen may be a contributing factor for some, but in itself it's not at the core of the Great Widening.

This is crazy, I don't know the others but ItsAGundam was going on about Amouranth for awhile so I know who she is.

That number for her is insane. She would make less doing actual porno
