I personally am getting tired of my HTPC setup and am looking for a TV that does 2 things:

Can do Amazon Prime video streaming.

Can connect to my media server (WHS) to play a variety of formats.

Prefer ethernet, but wifi network connectivity is fine.

Bonus points: Skype with a built in or additional camera.

Any recommendations?

If you don't get a smart TV you could always get a roku or WDTV LIve or some such, neither of which come close to the functionality of a htpc though.

Would really love to eliminate all boxes, hence my request for recommendations of a specific TV.

New child keeps reaching behind the TV pulling things down. Kinda hard to reconnect everything without taking it off the wall mount. It would be nice it all it had was the power, ethernet, and tuner feeds instead of the jumble thats currently hidden back there.

Without price and size requirements it is hard to give any specific model recommendation. Most new model TVs should be capable of doing what you want since nearly all are DLNA capable and incorporate widgets for Amazon Prime and Skype into their various front end software. All you have to do is add a USB camera to those models without one.

There are problems with using the TV as your media front end though. TV manufacturers are generally slower to fix bugs and implement new features in their software and most TVs just do not have the processing power to decode and display some streaming content accurately. This situation is definitely improving and upcoming 2013 models should be better in this regard. Personally I would prefer to use something else as my front end since I would hope to upgrade many features and performance during the life of the typical TV. You just do not have that option when the TV is providing those features for you. A cheap $100 set top box like a Roku or even a BluRay player with these features can be easily replaced and upgraded, not to mention the flexibility of an mini ITX PC or Intel NUC or even and Andriod PC. You are not locked into this years performance and features forever.

You could also consider finding a temporary cabling solution or custom enclosure to make the area more child safe since children eventually grow up :)

If you decide to go all TV then I would suggest looking at this listing for Amazon Prime compatibility: http://www.amazon.com/gp/video/ontv/devices

You can then go to somewhere like AVSForum and research the models you are considering for any current issues. Most popular TV models have their own thread there with tons of user comments problems and fixes.
