I've been trying to get my W10 to automatically turn off another W10 on the local network when I turn it off, but so far nothing worked.

I've tried

gpedit.msc (local Policies)

Computer Configuration -> Windows settings -> Scripts -> Shutdown -> Properties -> Add

But the command I entered does not execute, or has no effect.

"C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /m \\compname /s /t 5"

Tried the same thing with the task scheduler:

Begin the task: On an event
Log: System
Source: USER32
EventID: 1074

again nothing happens on shutdown, the other PC keeps running.

If I issue the command directly it shuts down the other pc.

Try adding a ping script to the shutdown and see if even that gets through to the other workstation

wont you need to connect to the other PC with an administrative account? and that needs to have a password I assume.

try shutgui.exe (download it) and once you get that working, then you can script it to work with tasks
