Tunisia may have a new democratic government in place, but that fact does not change the way the government feels about the openness of the Internet. A court order has effectively censored all web sites considered adult content. It’s the same old mantra, just a different government: We do this to protect the children.

The majority of Internet traffic in Tunisia is handled by a single ISP, providing a single control point at which URLs and other specific resources can be blocked.

No different imo than what is done for "the greater good" in the US as well. We have a double standard as far as what we allow and what we don't allow (gambling sites anyone?) for the benefit of "the greater good" in our country. With some of the legislation that people are trying to pass in the US, this won't be too far off.

More like the other usual excuse: Allah/God/the voices in my head demand the removal of anything I disapprove of you seeing. Looks like Tunisia is almost all Sunni, so I doubt they want to join the Irannet.

Hear Hear! I've seen families destroyed by gambling losses. Losing their homes, cars, life and having to restart financially from bankruptcy and nothing. Never seen anything like that occur from teenagers watching adult-entertainment videos.

.... TODAYS TOP STORIES: Some people abuse some shit. Some people don't abuse some shit. You're an idiot if you find porn acceptable but not gambling.

blocking porn is how kids turn gay.
early exposure prevents the gay.
religious people try to "pray away the gay," but the real solution is to just watch porn.

What is amusing...sex in the ONE thing (other than eating and drinking) that every person on the planet is EXPECTED to do (necessary for life yo!).

I guess I never saw the reasoning behind banning porn while at the same time allowing the one thing in the media that you hope NO ONE EVER does, which would be violence itself.

I've seen both, although I do counseling so these cases pop up quite frequently. Porn can be just as disruptive to marriage as a gambling addicition.

control sex and you control the people. why let young boys sex the girls when you can send them off to war to get them killed. leaves more wives to be had by the old geezers.

I'm surprised that in a time when they are literally fighting their own citizens to stay in control of things the government has the time to pass a law like this. One more reason I hate just about everything the word "government" has come to mean.

Atheists have been the worst. Look at the former Soviet Union, North Korea, and China. Who has spent more than China in trying to censor the internet?

All idealogues are morons. When one only has ideas that are too black and white problems arise.

Wars have been started for far less than this. My guess is that people in Tunisia need their wank time. Why all the hate on the wank?

Exactly. I dont see it any different than other countries ruled by religious groups that have a ban on XYZ because of religious code.

Movement towards freedom... 'scuse me while I go have a good hearty laugh.
