Really strange and trying to figure this out, I recently bought a wired xbox 360 controller to use for emulators and it worked fine. However, whenever I try to shut down the computer it won't shut down until the controller was disconnected. Thought it was weird, but whatever. Also, I noticed the 4 green lights constantly flash whenever it is plugged in.

Recently saw NBA2k12 for 9.99 on Amazon so I bought it figuring I would use my xbox 360 controller for it. Same issues, 4 flashing green lights constantly and the computer won't shut down unless the controller is disconnected. However, the controller works fine when I navigate through the game's menus, but as soon as gameplay starts, the game will freeze. I can play defense just fine, but as soon as I get the ball and start dribbling it, the game will freeze. I can unplug the controller and the game will unfreeze. Plug it back in and it immediately freezes.

I searched for any software/drivers on google and downloaded the software accessory program from Microsoft's hardware website. None of my issues have been fixed other than I can now shut down the computer with it plugged in. Still have the issues of the constant flashing green lights and game freezing whenever I get the ball. None of this makes sense, I don't even know where to go from here. Any suggestions? Thanks.

It has to do with how it is talking on the USB or some-such, you may also find that while the controller is plugged in your system wont sleep and screen savers wont activate. This because the controller or it's driver is constantly sending info to the system or some such.

I just keep mine unplugged when I am not using it.

Nevermind. I think I figured it out. I have been using the MotioninJoy program to connect my PS3 controller to the PC for when I play PS2 emulator games. Turns out it was using that every time I connected. I just disabled the MotioninJoy xinput driver and it seems to be working now.

I find motioninjoy to be one of the absolutely worst coded, incredibly useful things I have ever installed, instantly regretted, and could never really live without.

Fuck.

Thank god for the wireless 360 adapter I knew I could find in that bin in my room.
