TRUE black fan suggestions.

I currently have a TRUE black on my Q6700 @ 3.6Ghz. I have a Scythe Ultra Kaze fan on it. The Scythe fan is thicker than most fans, and it blocks my first ram slot and touches my first dimm.

I am looking at getting 2 fans for a push-pull configuration. What do you guys recommend? Cooling is the biggest factor, as I want to try to push my CPU a bit further and I think pretty much anything will be quieter than my current CPU fan.

The scythes are $14 with free shipping on newegg, where is a good place to buy the yate loons?

The YLs I ordered had closed corners, so they couldn't be used with the wire brackets on my TRUE. I also didn't like that they came wired with molex connectors, which I never use.

I am very happy with my low-speed Scythes. Jab-tech has the Kama Flex version for $9.95 and it is one of the top 3 rated fans by SPCR.

You could probably dremel/cut out the closed corner. Pretty much just cut it down like a normal fan.
*edit* Looking at mine now, It would be very easy and probably only take a few minutes.

Petra's
Jab-Tech - $3.60 each
Xoxide

The yates are 4 for $20 at Petras tech HERE

Cheaper at some other websites, especially if OP doesn't need 4 of them.

That's the main reason I switched to the Scythe SFF21F. I was using the Medium Speed Yate Loon on my TRUE but I had it zip-tied to the heatsink. Moved it to the case and put the Scythe there instead. Great fans (Sony Dynamic Fluid Bearings) that push lots of air at low noise.

Any idea if I can use these on the TRUE? If so thats a good deal, as I could switch out some of my other case fans.

You can't use them with the wire brackets because they have closed corners. I was too lazy to modify the fan itself so I went with the Scythe. They are a bit more expensive than most other fans, but they are quality products (Sony Dynamic Bearings) that will last for some time.

You could, but if the OP is too lazy or doesn't own a dremel, it would probably be more convenient to just get a single quality fan such as the Scythe.

I am going to get 2 of the scythes. Is xoxide a legit website? I have never done business with them.

Very legit. That's where I got my Scythe from. Great prices and service.

Keep in mind that a push/pull setup will be louder and at most you'll see a drop of 2-3*C.

Gelid Wing 12 or Noctua if you don't mind the color. I currently have the Noctua on my TRUE black. I also have the Gelid but haven't tested them out.

Noctua Specs:

1300 RPM
19.8 dB
92.3 m3/h (54.3 cfm)
1.68 mmH20

GELID Specs:

1500 RPM
25 dB
109 m3/h (64.3 cfm)
1.925 mmH20

Push/pull isn't worth it.

I took a hacksaw to my Loons to make them fit on my Xigmatek. Not pretty but gets the job done. I always order my Yate Loons from Performance-PCs as for $6.95 you get them without the molex connector and sleeved in any color you want. Although from what I hear the Yate Loons from Petra's are supposed to better in some way, I've never bought into it.

The kama flex's (1500rpm) are nice. You can hear them, but it's not bad at all. I think they push ~60cfm.
