So I built a system for my bro last year using Gigabyte H55M-USB3 as his board. Yesterday he calls me up and said his system is not longer working. I go over and sure enough as soon as Winxp boot screen appears I get BSOD.

So i figure I would do a fresh install of winxp, but during the install phase, windows is telling me I do not have a drive installed.

I try another sata drive and get the same problem, try both drives in my system and they work great.

Is it possible that all sata ports on this board are toast? If not, what else can I try?

Windows xp and SATA ... time to break out your floppy disks.

XP doesn't have drivers included for most SATA controllers. You're going to need to download the driver and put it on a floppy, and yes with XP it has to be a floppy. There will be a short period while the disc is loading that you can press F6 to install additional drivers.

The only other method would be to slipstream the drivers into a XP disc image.
