Hi, im working with microsoft word 07 and im photoshoping a pic and i want it to be the shape of the pic, say i have a star, i want to only be able to see the star and not the white background. how would i do that so when i open the file in word, its like that. i tried putting the pic on a transparent background, and that didn't do anything.

Could you rephrase the question?

Why are you using Photoshop to create something that can be done better with the built-in vector tools in Office?

You need to save in a format that supports transparencies like png or gif sometimes. jpeg will not work.
