Working on a customer's computer as of this moment. This issue has eluded many of us here at work.

When customer plugs in his headset jack that has a microphone as well, it doesn't come up as a separate device on Windows 8. When it's plugged in, it takes on the default speaker device and default Microphone device (built-in). Whenever the customer is done with the headset, he would unplug it and then the internal speaker / microphone would take over.

The problem is that we want to set up specific volume levels and settings for the built-in audio devices and headset separately. There are only one microphone listed in the audio device manager, not two.

We've done drivers, restore points, and fiddling with audio settings to no avail. Any suggestions in short of recommending the customer to contact Toshiba?
