This is a video of the new Torque 3D South Pacific Foliage and Physics demo that GarageGames has released to show off the new features of Torque 3D 1.1. The demo is a tropical island you can run around and play around with the different PhysX features that you could implement into a game with Torque 3D. It has some pretty cool PhysX objects you can destroy and fluid physics for the water that can float and carry away the PhysX objects down a stream in a realistic manner.

Fluid Buoyancy... that's an understatement... those boxes and chunks of dock flew over that waterfall like they were made of helium-injected styrofoam. cool stuff, but the tech demo definitely needs some tweaking.
 
I'm not impressed. Looked to be struggling to get 15fps, and what was shown wasn't even impressive. Judging from that video it looks like crap.

So I downloaded the demo anyway. Performance was really smooth on my system, dude that made the video I guess had some crappy laptop. But the physics effects were lame. Half the time I would throw grenades and nothing would happen. Weak.

Turn on fraps with full screen record.
 
Water looked great. Destructability is a nice touch but there's no credible momentum of particles. A shot wooden crate collapses, it doesn't spatter.
