I was just pondering as I saw some that said "not to thread hijack but"... and was wondering if there was any way to somehow make a post IN the thread lead to another "sub-thread" or to another thread altogether...

i guess its not that big of a deal, but that way [sometimes people want to talk about BOTH subjects: the subject of the original poster (hijackee), and whatever has been brought up by the "hijacker" ] you could contain both sets of information/conversation in ONE thread, without the jumbled mess of 2 sets of conversations. (sometimes even more....i cant even imagine what goes on in GenMay :p )

EDIT(2): for a second there, i almost convinced myself to subscribe.....maybe i will :D
** to GenMay that is ;)

All one has to do is copy/paste the url from the address bar of the other thread and it will be a live link in their post.

i know, i thought about that, but i guess my thinking was that sometimes you may want the 2 tied together or something

i dont know, it wasnt exactly a clear though, i just typed it out hoping that someone else could come up with the REAL idea

but it is quite easy to just give yourself access to both, or make a link like you said

She's an Admin you know...

Though your idea does have some merit, it could create more clutter than what it would remove...

yea i know

and i guess i wasnt on to anything at all, but yea i agree, it would create too much clutter and not be worth it probably at all

The reason we don't jump on a new idea and say 'sure, that's a great idea and we will do it immediately' is just for that reason. It has to be clean, really needed and easily executable to work on a forum of this magnitude. So it seemed a good time to point that little fact out since we always approach things from the cautious side. :)
