THQ Nordic Apologizes for Hosting AMA on 8chan

On Tuesday, THQ Nordic decided to host an "Ask Me Anything" (AMA) on 8chan, an imageboard website said to be notorious for racism, hate speech, and child pornography. Naturally, it didn’t turn out well, as the Darksiders III publisher was quickly criticized by both fans and the gaming media for associating with that crowd. “We got approached in a very friendly and polite manner and were assured, said person (shoutout to Mark) will take care of the nasty stuff.”

Mark, whoever he is, did not take care of the nasty stuff. The ensuing AMA contained pornographic imagery, Hitler references and memes, copious questions about loli, racial slurs, and so much more. There were also more standard questions about THQ Nordic’s future plans, which PR and marketing director Philipp Brock replied to. In one case, a user said, “Please don’t censor any games nor appeal to the SocJus crowd, you guys are doing fine as is,” to which Brock replied, “Thanks! We’ll try to stay that way.”
 
It's like the equivalent of internet virgins that lose their virginity.

Such a touching and heartwarming story :p
 
Just another case of stupid PR thinking that all publicity is good publicity, when that could not be further from the truth.
 
Top kek! Going to fullchan got them some great free marketing, thanks sjws and 'journos'.
I love the media friendly blurb they wrote about it, clearly never stepping foot there outside of a single thread.

Its not "free marketing". Not all publicity is good publicity. That old adage has always been wrong.

This is 100% true. 4chan is a place self-described as the most disgusting place on the internet. They call themselves literally "the asshole of the internet." 8chan is regarded as too crude for 4chan, and now THQs name is linked to 8chan. Simply saying "sorry" isn't enough to dissociate the two for most people. That's bad publicity, through and through.

Whoever pulled this at their company is either a complete moron, or knew exactly what they were doing and had a vendetta against THQ.
 
I scratch my head as to why they do dumb shit like this lol. It must be intentional. Maybe to create a buzz and have everyone talk about you, bad publicity is publicity anyways. I feel like companies are starting to use Trump style of marketing, doesn't matter how you get them to talk about you just make sure they talk about you. lol. Just find a way to be in the news.

A lot of game industry PR seems to take the "as long as they're talking about us its a good thing" route. I believe they know exactly what they're doing, trying to use the controversy to drive attention thinking it will lead to more sales.
 
8chan is gross and they should be social outcasts. The problem is every other previous free speech outlet is now heavily curated and censored. I find this pattern very disturbing.

8chan is like back ally street brawl of free speech. Problem is a reddit AMA used to be at least MMA and is now faker then wrestling.

Someone at THQ nordic understands this.
 
You dumbasses realize that the child porn thing is a lie, right? After 4chan cucked and banned all GamerGate discussion, it moved to 8chan. The SJW game journos followed, their minions posted child porn and then a rash of "reporting" about child porn on 8chan commenced. In reality, any child porn is immediately reported, removed, and then reported by 8chan admins to the FBI.

Stop being fake news morons.

The only thing THQ Nordic did wrong was apologize to SJW game "journos" who look at apologies like a shark looks at blood in the water.

SJWs did that to themselves with their wacko behavior. Once upon a time, "bully" was considered a term of endearment. To be discriminatory was once seen as a positive thing; discerning tastes and all.

"Liberal" itself once meant something different than what it does now. Liberals shat that bed and they knew it; that's why they began calling themselves "progressives" instead. Global warming became climate change, and so on and so forth . . .
