My mother needs a new PC to replace her 10+ year old Dell. She is very light office work and some spider solitaire lol, but mainly just need a PC to last her since she may wind her business down next year. Since her business is buying it, it is easier just to buy a PC versus me building one. With all the Intel issues, I am hesitant to go Intel right now for her and this pretty much rules out Dell though these days it doesn't sound much like a loss.

Currently looking at something like this Best Buy HP Pavilion. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-pav...tb-ssd-natural-silver/6477687.p?skuId=6477687 on sale for $649.99.

Key Specs

Processor - AMD Ryzen 7 5000 Series
1TB SSD
16gb DDR4 3200
Integrated Graphics
Ryzen 7 5700G

I don't remember if HP is horrible with bloatware these days, and if there might be a better option. Price didn't look horrible even though it is older hardware. Most other AMD options, unless I switch over to gaming PCs tend to come with less storage and less ram and it always seems to be a gamble if you can expand storage or not. She is not tech savvy at all so I don't want to deal with two drives. I would be ok with buying a gaming PC, which is what I did back with the Dell, but with everything going glass and RGB it would no longer work.

Is best Buy your only option? Might have some more options if looking online.

Intel mid range appears to be fine. i5's are a good match for your use case, too. I built an i5-12600k SFF a year ago I use for work and it's uptime is measured by mandatory updates.

I like HP's, but, prefer their business class to the consumer class systems. Very little, if any, bloat on the business series I've played with. Mainly their own update tool, iirc. I tend to stick with their Pro, Elite or Z series. I used several of their SFF systems for office / gaming use at home. They still work fine.

If buying new, I tend to spec the lowest/best $/storage and swap it for an nvme of my choice. Since storage prices are pretty low, that may not be necessary. HP's had a system restore form uefi/bios that will reinstall everything as if it came from the factory. Very convenient. You can easily find their mb specs online, if curious.

HP's business class is what I've recommended to my mother when her Dell gives out and she's tired of or no longer can pay them for extended support.

No she runs a non-profit so just needs to be someone that offers a tax exempt option. She already has a registration on file for BB, Office Depot, and Staples so I defaulted to those.
