Thoughts on Bose Companion 5?

Looking for a worthwhile replacement for my aging, but still functioning Klipsch 4.1s. Instead of going for a full out surround speaker system, I was thinking of something more compact like the Bose. I don't game as much as I used to, but I do use my PC a lot for movies and music. The demo I got at the store sounded pretty good.

Any opinions on this unit?

I've only heard the bose stuff in store and they never impress me. especially for the price. Bose is like the monster cable of the speaker world. Lots of Marketing and Mystery.

I'd just go with the promedia 2.1 set if you aren't looking for full surround.

Less than half the price of the bose and better sounding imo.

The Companion 5 isn't bad, go for it if you like it. I wouldn't get the PM2.1 because the 2.1 sub has less power than the 4.1. If you want 2.1, just disconnect the rear speaker.

I would consider a 5.1 system with rear speakers disconnected. That way you'll have a center channel for movies.

I love my companion 5's, they sound phenomenal!

Foot print on the desk is very small to for simulated surround sound.
