This is why Fury X can't ever touch Maxwell

Hexus just did an excellent review of the Zotac 980 Ti Amp Extreme and it's around 20%+ faster than Fury X at 4k and just stomps it in all other resolutions. This all for $699 from NewEgg and the best part is the load temps and noise are very close to the AIO Fury X. The sample they had OC'd even further and went to 1500 MHz which just further stomps on anything else out there. With these kinds of partner cards available for a modest $50 over reference with 5 years warranty, why would anyone go near AMD?

because fury is tiny
fits nice on my itx case
is going to be better at DX12
and freesync monitors are cheaper and better.

Looks like full length GTX cards fit just fine in that case of yours. FreeSync is cheaper but better than G-Sync? Nope. I didn't know DX 12 games were out, got benchmarks?

AMD won't be better than DX12. In fact, from what I heard, it's NVIDIA who will be better.

FreeSync is cheaper, yes, but not better AFAIK. GSync overall seems better because it has quality attached to it, unlike FreeSync where AMD promises the moon and then give you 40-60Hz VSR window monitors ;)

You realize there are non over clocked cards in that review too? In any case some 980 ti overclocked cards can be purchased at the same price as Fury X right now.

O/C card beats reference. Who would've known? :D
I don't recall AMD fans ever complaining about the 7970 GHz edition when it was just an OC as well? This thing is factory set and warrantied for 5 years and still has plenty of OC headroom unlike the Failure X. The best part of this all? It runs just as cool and quiet as Fury X but does it without the clunky H20 setup.

Triple expansion slots!?! How does one run this in sli without the proper MB. And even with a MB that has enough space between cards think the temps on the top card would go thru the roof. LOL at the card having fingers for 4 way sli. As of this second in stock @ the egg.

I just don't see the advancement from a 7970 to waste $600 -700 dollars yet as two of those are still pretty fast and dirt cheap..

Heck I was playing with some friends last night as we all play World of Warships open beta and one of the guys just got a 980Ti and the other had a 970GTX but they got the same frame rates under the same settings as my 770GTX 4gb card I got used for $200.

I wonder how did they manage to get less performance out of an 295x2 than a 290. Everything must've been set up perfectly.

Perhaps it was when the game just launched. I don't think a lot I places retest each time they do a review like [H].

The 7970 is/was a good card. WoW is an awesome game and you're right you probably don't need a 980ti/Fury X to drive it. :) I wish they would enable better AA though. Or GUI scaling. Or the ability to put it into the nVidia control panel...

Was this thread actually necessary?
Nvidia fanboys on rage mode.
We have the best, stop buying AMD crap. AMD is going to sink, 20% market share, HBM sucks, Fury X is not even close to this and this ocd gpu ect ect...

The worst part is that those fanboys aren't teenagers....

This is proof that Fury X can touch Maxwell fanbois in the naughty place.

Now there's a topic worthy of a thread

In b4 someone claims hexus is an NVidia shill site...

And yes, anyone buying Fury X has very different concerns other than performance.

People that own Fury X's say it plays games just fine with great performance. When you stop worrying about who has faster numbers you realize its just fan boys shitting on each other. Windows 10 and DX12 will make all systems and graphic cards better. Keep the hate alive trolls.

Like what?

Size? You still have to mount that huge radiator somewhere
Noise? The pump whine is so bad many people returned their card
Power draw? Nope it uses a lot of power for it's "size"

Other than that price, performance, features, etc are all on NVIDIA's side.

yeah right.... Asus's 120Hz 2560×1440 IPS MG279Q Supports FreeSync.

Huge raidator? Are you a fucking smurf?
What noise? Can't hear anything from the pump. How many did return their cards? Exactly?
Power draw? Who gives two fucks. I don't drive a Prius either.

I bought one of these AMP! Extremes, and I have been nothing but impressed by it. I have always been wary of Zotac, but so far they have won me over with this card. Oh, btw, it's a lifetime warranty if you live in North America and register. Sweetens the deal even more.

I held out for Fury X for months. I had such high hopes that obviously were dashed by all the reviews. Those charts show exactly why I didn't go with AMD this time. It's not even a contest, and it's a shame. DX12 isn't magically going to save it either. It's not like Nvidia cards won't show improvement as well. The gap is too big imo.

Boy these guys are still driving the point home that AMD sucks.
We know what the performance is, actually we have known since the launch of the fury x. Despite the numbers people have made their choices, don't know why this needs to be drilled in one more time.

It's because they're testing with old drivers, or more likely, are re-using old results. In short, shit testing methodology.

Another example is where 295x2 is showing in their Witcher 3 result as slower than a single 290 -- this was the case the first couple weeks after release. I know from experience the 295x2 has worked exceptionally in Witcher 3 since 15.5 betas (with some flickering issues when AA is on) and runs pretty much perfectly with 15.7.

Let's acknowledge the fact that we're comparing a stock, reference Fury X to a factory overclocked 980 Ti.
That being said the 980 Ti is still around 10% faster even after you push FX to its limits.

Carry on.

They had no problem comparing after market Furry cards to reference 980s either. When you use aftermarket 980s the Fury (non x) is simply overpriced and outmatched.

AMD already said they are moving away from the PC market, so I don't even understand what's to argue about anymore.

Man they really must have nothing better to do when they start these threads. One glaring omission here for me, Where is the sli and crossfire comparison? Seems that is where the Fury actually shines from what I have seen. Everyone got their popcorn :D

Now just put up a chart on crossfire Fury X and SLI 980ti. Oh wait you probably don't want to put those up since crossfire scales much better and the card does not choke at higher resolution despite having only 4gb of memory on each card. To me is doesn't matter cause both cards are way overpriced, like I need all that power to play console ports these days. I will just stay with my two 290x cards for now, since both companies have underwhelmed me this round, it's not like I have needed more graphic power anyway.

That is a very true statement and I am running a 970 and couldn't care about brand, performance is what matters. We need both companies to keep shit from getting even more outrageous on pricing but I guess these guys are looking forward to paying over a grand a card if AMD does go away from the gpu market.

Yup, that's what I never understood either. I'm not buying an AMD card this time around, but that doesn't mean I need to go around posting the same shit over and over again. We have 3 threads for Fury I think, a couple of review threads and now we still need this on top? All these threads do is make it easier to see who the fanboys are, so I guess it's still slightly beneficial :p
