this cant be right ?

that particular kit appears to not have sold a bunch or for that long. Newegg doesn't sell it anymore, it is sold by third party, which sets their own price. Better off trying to get a set off ebay, or sell your existing ram and replace it with a 32gig kit.

i paid 100 bucks for this about a yr or less ago and was thinking of buying another 16 gigs to have 32 gigs. its now 200 Bucks? this cant be right?

That $200 price is for the CL16 kit, which always commands a price premium over the more common and more pedestrian CL18 kit. And the $200 price for two CL16 DDR4-3600 sticks is also Crucial's own direct price for that particular kit.

That said, it is strange that a kit of four sticks of that same RAM (for a total of 32 GB) sells for only $150 to $160 at Newegg (and once again, Crucial's direct price is $400).

You don't *need* to get matching kits as long as they're close.

I had mismatched 2x8 and 2x16 recently, now I have mismatched 2x16 and 2x16. Still working great, and now it has RGB! (groan).

Of course, i'm not trying to push my memory super hard.
