I was given a DDS-3 drive (HP SureStore DAT24) but it doesn't hold a whole lot and frankly, it sucks.

I'd like to invest in an LTO drive for my server, but eBay has shown some rather disencouraging prices. Would you guys recommend LTO over SDLT? (Seems like the most comparable technology) I have about 80GB of VERY important documents, pictures (my freelancing photography job) and Ghost images to keep backed up.

I got an LTO 2 drive from work, and it works great. I know if I ever needed a tape format for a client, I'd probably do LTO.

They're pretty nice drives. Tapes are reasonable too, atleast for LTO 1, the LTO 2 (200GB/400GB are about $50/ea)

Jesus, you were GIVEN an LTO2 drive? I need one! :)

Actually, I've been considering an autoloader. I can get DDS4 media for free, and I've had pretty good experiences. I just wish it wasn't so slooooow.
