Hey all, just wondering if anyone has purchased and is using the Thermalright TRad2 with a single 120mm fan.

Can anyone tell me if the single 120mm can be installed wherever you want on the heatsink or if it has pre-set mounting holes?

Probably should have checked this before I posted the thread, but the space that I was hoping to squeeze the 120mm fan into isn't even big enough. :(

There's more then enough room for a single 92mm fan though, so all I'll have to do is drill/cut my own mounting holes in the TRad2 for the 92mm fan and I'll be laughing.

According to test data from the review of the TRad2 @ Expreview, there is only a 6c load temp difference between a single 120mm on the TRad2 and a single 92mm on the HR-03...obviously in favor of the TRad2.

The TRad2 performs best with dual 92mm fans, but even with a single 92mm on the HR-03GT the HD4850 is kept 35c cooler under load compared to stock cooling. I still expect similar temps to the HD4850 testing, assuming that the TRad2 is at least on par with the HR-03GT with a single 92mm fan, but even if it performed slightly worse then the HR-03GT I'll be in better standings and have a much quieter system overall.

Gonna probably be ordering the TRad2 and fan by monday or tuesday...gonna be an excited week!!!

I can tell you that after using it for a week and trying everything I can think of to get temps under control, that the T-Rad2 is insufficient to cool the VRMs of an HD 4870. At speeds of 790/1000 (an underclock for my 4870 XOC) the card would get GPU Recover resets in Assassin's Creed and Crysis Warhead, let alone RTHDRIBL or Furmark. Highest VRM temp I saw on the stock cooler was 75c (30min RTHDRIBL), but on the T-Rad2 I was hitting 95c in Assassin's Creed. :(

Hmm...good to know...I might just leave it as is, but I'm gonna be situating the fan RIGHT over the VRMs so I might still give it a shot.
