It is plated copper on the base, same as the copper heat pipes.

I placed my order on November 5th with a delivery date of around November 10th, if I remember correctly. They then changed my delivery date to 11/15. Then, they changed it to 11/18. Now, it's showing Nov 23-27th. If you click on the link, the 120 SE version (this one) isn't listed any more. I'm thinking they're out of stock and maybe not coming back. At this point, I may just cancel and order a different one since my PC parts are just sitting here, waiting only on the HSF.

Amazon or Thermalright keeps changing where link goes. I don't follow up on this very often so it is hard for me to keep up. The PA120SE is still $35.90. If my original link takes you to another PA120 from a different Thermalright Direct store (there seems to be 3 or more on Amazon) you can still search for 'peerless assassin 120 se' and find the proper store. The OP link has been updated, but will likely change again due to Amazon or Thermalright shenanagins.

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed this!

I've used two different links, both were Thermalright Direct storefront I think one was maybe TDS3 or something like that. One has four versions, the other has all of them, white, black, 120, 120se, argb etc.

Overall - I'm enjoying the cooler after roughly 5 or so months.

Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of 80C+ temps.

My 5900X is all over the place with temperatures just by a fraction of increasing or decreasing it's voltage/frequency.

Overall - to avoid eventual crashing in game or stress testing, I've got my 5900X @4.6 GHZ all cores with a standard voltage. And it's sitting roughly around 70C for most games. And about 80C in BF 2042.

Now, I can absolutely lower to 4.2 ghz all core and it doesn't reach above 58C, no matter the application.
However, I lose about 5 to 10% framerate. Funny how noticeable it is.

With PBO enabled, and full on having it go full HAM, forget it. 85C is easy to hit regardless of my fan curve. And I don't see really any improvement in framerate.

Overall, this cooler is good. My CPU is just bipolar AF.

I don't use pbo or anything, just run my 5950x at stock. But I cpu mine with it, so I keep the fans at 100% (noise doesn't bother me) and this cooler keeps my CPU in the mid-70s, while fully loaded at 4.3-4.4Ghz. I don't think I could ask for more, considering how little it cost.

You need to use PBO with offsets :)

I had a 5950x and a 3900x. For both, my best results didn't come from Curve Optimizer, PBO, or messing with the PPT. Also, not doing an ALL core overclock.

What worked best for me, was overclocking the CCX with the main boosting cores (so, the best cores). And then overclocking the other CCX, but not as much. Like 100mhz less or maybe more, depending upon how high I got the "good" CCX.

My 5700x has a Wraith Prism cooler and it's not like my 5600x, your never going to see it at 4.6Ghz boost, unlike the 5600x that will run at 4.650Ghz boost pretty much in all games. the 5700x acts more like my 3700x in clock speed and 4.4Ghz range is what it likes at 67c, those 8 core and 12 core parts act different then the 6 core part with heat and boost, I'm sure they have a sweet spot in temp to get the boost without hard overclocking.

Better cooler may change my 5700x clock speeds if it can keep it cooler like 60c or below.

I might have to grab one of these just to have a backup for the liquid cooling or for testing something. It really puts these triple digit air coolers to shame. Good on ya, thermalright.

I ordered one for the same reasons. If my AIO springs a leak or pump takes a shit this will be a more than adequate interim cooler.

There are a whole bunch of different versions of this. The one in the OP is the 120 SE. Are they all the same except for coloring? I waited a few months and I assume they should all have the new socket brackets by now included.

I was given one of these as part of a 12700K combo that I bought to upgrade from a 6700K w/Corsair H115i. I must say I'm impressed. The AIO was a fun venture but I must say it feels good to go back to air (and the fact that it didn't cost me $90+ like a NH-D15 was a bonus). Not like that little bit extra was going to break the bank considering a 4090 went in the same build, but it always feels good to get bang for your buck!

Yeah I never got why people overpay for those super expensive ones.... probably cuz iTz NoCTUA and the fan is 1dB QUIeTr

Been using this cooler in my servers for almost two years now and they are still the same price.
