Thermalright high-end air coolers questions.

Seems kind of goofy to have one on an air cooler, but the masses love it.
More bling I guess. I was in that phase for a while, and I still like the RGB fans, but set to one static color and dimmed down for just the right amount of lighting.

Some of their single tower coolers have a little screen on it.

I noticed that on Assassin X 120, Burst Assassin 120 and Assassin Spirit 120, but I couldn't find anything on their website about screen functions/features.

I am guessing you plug it into usb2 and use their software to run the screen.

They have a newer AIO with a big screen on it that I actually kind of want..

Just put my T30s on and it should be pretty good.

Edit:

I know, I know.. what can I say

Front tower is thinner also.. unlike PA120SE.. where both towers same width..
Sure.

The offset is the main feature. Not many coolers do that. In fact, I think Scythe are the only ones still doing it. Until now, with the Royal Knight from TR.

I used a Scythe Mugen 5 Rev. B In 2002, with a build I did for some kids. Rather than a Peerless Assassasin. The offset was great, as it allowed me to show off 4 sticks of RGB RAM, and also have an RGB fan framing them, on the heatsink. (And I put a second 'pull' fan).

I had wanted to use a Fuma 2, but they were sold out. The Fuma 3 eventually released.

In reality front tower fins don't need to be as big as rear tower because rear tower fins are using warmer airflow than front tower. Air is warmed up by heat absorbed from front tower.

I've noticed many of the best of today's coolers are cooling just as good as bigger older coolers with much bigger fin areas. My hypothesis is that comsumers thought "bigger is better" so producers made and sold bigger coolers. My guess is older huge fin size coolers are bigger than needed.

Hello guys,

I’m looking to buy a dual tower air cooler that can fit two of these Sanyo 140mm 38mm thick fans:

https://products.sanyodenki.com/en/sanace/dc/dc-fan/9RA1412P1G001/

I’ve been looking around for awhile, but it seems only an old Silverstone HE01 have that sort of fan clearance for the middle fan.

Would Thermalright have a dual tower that can fit the Sanyo 9RA 38mm thick fans?

Any guidance would be appreciated

if you have clearance over the vrm and ram you could alway mount them on the outsides, leave the middle empty.

Or, if you have room, you could bend the pipes a bit to increase the space in the center.

I just tried on my FC-140, since it has a bigger center gap then the PA/PS series.

I couldn't get it to fit, maybe if you pry the shit out of the towers, but they will never close properly.

FC-140 can take T30s no problem though. PS EVO can barely squeeze a T30 in.

That fan is a beast! Rated at 16.315mm H2O or 211.888cfm. That's right up freeagentt's alley.

HE-01 will accept your fan, but 6x 6mm heatpipes can't move as much heat as 7x or 8x 6mm heatpipes. Below is blueprint;

I don't know of any Thermalright twin tower that would take a 38mm fan between towers. It would be very hard to bend heat pipes to get 38mm between towers. Thermalright has a couple of very good single towers; TRUE Spirit 140 Power with 6x 8mm heatpipes in 155x53x110mm (WxDxH) finpack and Archon SB-E / Archon IB-E both have 8x 6mm heatpipes in 155x54x112.5mm. SB-E has centerd base and stands 171.2mm tall. IB-E has base off-set 8.5mm away from PCIe sockets and stands 165.2mm tall. Le Grand Macho with 7x 6mm heatpipes in 150x120x110mm (WxDxH) might work but it was ordinally designed are low / slow airflow usage.
