The WTF Picture of the Day

90% of homeless people are homeless due to drugs and ore alcohol. Both of which are diseases.QUOTE]

Call it an addiction, a mental disorder, or a choice, but don't call it a disease.

You don't become an alcoholic because someone sneezed on you. You don't become a drug addict because you drank some tainted water.

Well at least the homeless in the US still have a higher standard of living than elsewhere.

laptop with wireless off ebay=40$

plug it in at 7 11 around back, when the manager ain't there.=free

Never having to bath again=priceless.

haha, there is no cd drive in that beater. That dude is still homeless. Also, he is probably looking at porn too btw.

Reminds me of a wonderful plan mayor Willie Brown of San Francisco thought up while in office to give homeless point of sale credit card readers so they can more easily get handouts.... thankfully he was almost laughed out of office for even mentioning that.

I work part time in a uni CS research lab, and this guy probably makes more money than me

I can understand an aspect of this - it seems the more money I save the less I want to use it. I often get the urge to give it all away to charity, live in a trailer park or worse... I just don't believe spending it on myself will make anything any better, perhaps it comes from some sort of depression or other mental illness. I cant' imagine having 1 million bucks though, I might just go crazy and kill myself

Thats what makes the story even worse in a way i guess you could say. As far as i know he didn't give it away to charity, he left it in a bank account and just refuses to touch it. It was supposedly a few million back when he stopped touching the money, So a few mil sitting in an account for about 15+ years. Guessing he has made some good interest off of that.

You got that right. You see the same beggar on the same street corner for years. Beggars make quite a bit of money on a good day.

If you go to Valpo often enough you have probably seen the guy. He pretty much follows a consistant path from what i have seen. Either see him by Target or KMart. Seems to head north from Target up Silhavy to Val Park, takes that to KMart, from that area he heads down Calumet to Lincolnway then back toward Target. Have seen him on US 30 a few times so he might head toward Walmart every now and then before heading back up toward Target.

He is about 6'3" mid to late 40 or so, black hair normally just a little past his shoulders.

Just wondering have you ever heard that story about him being a former rich boy that decided to forgo his money and live on the streets? Had i not heard mulitple people mention it i would have considered it a joke the first time. But either its a story that somebody started and it spread amoung people over the course of many years (I guess like i am doing now), or if there is actual truth to it.

Didn't realize that Kyle was homeless now. I guess that keyboard he listed for sell isn't a joke and he needs the money.

"OMG!! nVidia Stock!! Buy!! Buy!! Buy!! I may be homeless, but even I can afford a few thousand shares!"

something tells me that laptop was swiped from its rightful owner.

Or he could have grabbed it out of the trash...

Seriously, thats a Dell Latitude D600/D610, launched in late 2002/early 2003 some time if I recall correctly...

My company got rid of all of those and replaced them with new laptops (Latitude D620's) in like 2005, and just recently replaced our D620's with new Latitude E4310's this summer...

You can even buy those D600's used for less than $50 if you poke around...

And here I thought he was just going to look up and say "What's in YOUR wallet?"

You guys are fools, the way the world is headed now, this will be about 1/3 of you in a few years.
LONG LIVE THE [H]ORDE!!!

Oh, and I should add, three complete laptop lifecycles, and we are still on Windows XP

I can just feel my core i5-520M and 4 gigs of ram going to waste.

He's not homeless, he's a sysadmin. It can be hard to tell the difference sometimes. ;)

Haha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our old "tech" looked much like that guy and he was a whack-job! Actually, he doesn't look any more pathetic than your typical 32 year-old 'puter weenie dink living in Mommy and Daddy's basement....

Yeah, I very rarely speak out but this is just offensive to me.

I don't see the humor in this at all.

I see a homeless person and I honestly think Hardocp is much better than this to make fun of this man at his expense or other homeless people in general.

This is someones dad, brother, husband, friend. 90% of homeless people are homeless due to drugs and ore alcohol. Both of which are diseases.

I appreciate a good laugh but c'mon, not like this?

That statistic is wrong... but the rest I agree with.

Mr. Holier-than-thou has entered the thread. I should've bowed in your presence. Please forgive me.
