The Thing - Infection at Outpost 31 preorder at Mondo for $60. This is a re-issue after the first production run sold out, which ran many years ago. This game was selling for $2-300 after the first run sold out in 2018 timeframe, and has not been in stock since then. I remember the first run sold out fast!

Mondo is GTG, I buy vinyl from them all the time.

Does anyone else immediately get turned off when you have to watch a ~10 min video to figure out how to play a board game?
I tried playing back to the future game with my son (until we had to watch a ~17 min video on youtube ) on how. Lol.
No? I mean, most board games worth playing are going to take you more than 10 minutes to learn. If that's not for you, then maybe stick with Monopoly?

I have lil ones... they see these games in the toy aisle. I wanna introduce them to games, but not refer to a 15 min youtube video for everything that comes up, lol

The Outpost 31 game is pretty good, but it doesn't really capture the paranoia of The Thing, in my opinion. This is primarily because the designers of Outpost 31 used a boiler plate "traitor" mechanic, which is not what The Thing is all about. My recommendation is "Who Goes There?" which is a similar board game based on the book (The Thing's original source material) and does a much better job at capturing that "Thing" feel because the players themselves can infect other players. Don't take my word for it, I really like the infection mechanic they designed for "Who Goes There?" but you'll have to check out a YouTube review of it to get a better idea of why it's awesome.

I'm by *no* means a board game expert, but a lot of these types of games share a common-ish ruleset or mechanic.

Not sure how little your kids are, but my friend's 12 year olds picked up Gloomhaven pretty quickly.

All of that is to say; >10 minutes to learn a board game is quite common. Don't let that deter you!

I still have my Collector's Edition Sealed. I bought a lot of stuff while not exactly in a place to actually play anything. Found out a few years later...they were worth a pretty penny.

I'm a yuge THE THING fan and would buy this if I had friends to play with :(

Why can't we just get a new THE THING video game too? The XBOX/PC game from almost 20 years ago was really good!

I bought one from this link the other day for my dad's 70th birthday. I hope he receives it before Thanksgiving.

Thanks OP.

That game had quite good graphics and game play for the time. I honestly considered it on par with the resident evils and silent hills of the time.
