The rumored RTX 4090Ti/TITAN

How about a card that gives us all the power savings next die shrink? I'd like two slot cards to be a thing in the future.
Hugs my GTX 980 Ti. Whatever happened to making cards on that trajectory?
Read the room. Anytime you say something like that, your hardcard gets pulled.
People in here won't be happy until single home computers need nuclear fusion to power (multiple gigawatts), and the cooling solutions are the size of a nuclear cooling tower.
And if you complain about the cost of that, then you're a poor.

People wanting bang for the buck, balanced cards have no place in the market or this forum.

Ditto...read the room (thread) yourself. Very few people want a nuclear behemoth like this. There is Hard then there is Ridiculously Stupid Hard.

Eh, my 3070 has been holding its own. /shrug
Thumbs down, hardcard revolked. You don't have 4x 4090's in your dual processor Threadripper machine, that has 4x 360 rads and is water cooled that you use to only play solitaire on. You'll be escorted off the premises and we'd be grateful for you to leave your credentials at security. No exit interview necessary.

Fail. This card only takes up 4 slots and only tops out at 800 watts. Not big enough. Please follow Westwood out.

Hey now. I have a 3060ti and a 3070, and an RX480!

They’re in secondary systems. And servers. And…. Oh. Right.

-pats his 3090 on custom water-

I wouldn't run only 4x360 rads on that machine.

It's a bit complicated but the reason is largely because of light bulbs were designed to ha dle 110v with their carbon filaments, later on when metal filaments were introduced the standards were already in place in homes that changing would be infeasible, where as Euopean countries had the perfect opportunity when a world war decimated countries.

That said it's not like the US is the only country that uses 120v as standard for internal wiring.

Plus 240v is going into homes, if you really wanted you could wire it up like that as is done with heavy electrical users like electric stoves, electric water heaters, and electric clothes dryers and soon to be computer outlets?
I had a dedicated 240v outlet for my PC equipment in my old house.

I don't think I've been excited about a graphics card launch since maybe the 9700 Pro... and before that, probably a GeForce 3.

Pretty soon the home PC will require three phase power supplies.
6 months ago I installed a NEMA 14-50 outlet backed by a 50a dedicated breaker in my garage for EV charging. Should've had the electricians run one to my office as well.

And here I thought my 1300w power supply would be enough. I can already get my box to 900 with a 3090

Shame it won’t be able to run vgpu

The 4090 seems to pull an extra 100-150 watts depending if it's overlooked

Even if the 4090ti pulls in 150 watts on top of that, you've still got 100 watts left :)

Insufficient power is such an insidious problem though, so easy to have it cause heaps of problems and you not know.

My room gets too hot to even think about it atm anyway *sad*

Watercool it right out the window then. Contribute to global warming directly and carbon free.
As long as your tubes are long enough, and you cut perfect little holes in your wall, then it'll work. Ha. I mean, it's not that realistic, but it would still be cool. Literally.

I could have sworn I saw a leak of the 5090 being a self contained case with a power supply kind of like the extra GPUs you can add to a laptop. Could have been a fluke though lol
Yeah ... Maybe this image

I'll be honest, IF I had the opportunity to own a nuclear powered gaming PC and have a cooling tower in my backyard, I'd own it and I'd make sure
I was right next to a neighborhood with an HOA while I did it.

I'd go talk to Klipsch about a nuclear powered sound solution while I was at it.

I would love to own a 4090 Ti if it is real. Powering it would probably take me over the 2k electricity plan I currently have. :D

Fun Fact, the Kodak corporation had a small nuclear reactor in the basement of their corporate Headquarters. No idea what the hell it was for, but someone over there decided they really needed one at some point probably for the photo op and bragging rights... lol. IIRC it hadn't been in operation for decades, but when they went bankrupt and the company folded a lot of black SUVs with blacked out windows showed up and collected it and the Uranium inside it.

There are a number of people that are operating small fusion reactors in their back yards and homes across the US. That's pretty cool too.

The steel bracket that ships with Gigabyte 4090's is a solid little bastard and that thing doesn't budge when it's locked in place. Pretty sure it'll easily hold one of these, too. Trick is, it doesn't fit every motherboard thanks to plug layouts. I had to have a friend cut mine down to fit on an ASUS B650E-F board. That bracket is solid enough that you need serious metal-cutting tools to do it, too.

It should if Crysis works on Windows 10/11. The 4090ti doesn't support 7/Vista so depending on the game compadibility issues with old software will vary.
So the most powerful video card in the world might not be able to play crysis?

I'm just loving this concept.

Crysis works with Windows 10. I played through the GOG version last year with no issues. You just still need to deal with the game picking the first/lowest refresh rate supported by your video card in fullscreen mode. All you need to do is Alt+Tab out and in once to fix that.

If you had a card like one of these, you should probably be playing the remastered version of Crysis with RT and such anyway. If you don't feel like paying for it, just do the EA/Gamepass trial for a month.

It was more of a statement about Windows 10/11 than it was a 4090. If you have a 4090 then you don't have the luxury of running the version of Windows that Crysis was built for.

Now I'm just disappointed. I'm going to hide in my alternate reality thanks

Wat CPU is this?
Threadripper 3000 series, add 7 fans, wc pump, a t400 in another slot and a bunch of ssds to the 3090 and you too can have a legitimate space heater at your feet.

My KVM doesn’t work at high refresh unless it has short cables too, heaps of fun. Genuinely have been thinking about getting an external radiator box with a couple of 560 rads and dual pump to get the heat further away

Maybe a system that can keep the whole house warm in the winter, and have a dipswitch savings to do power savings mode when it's hot in the summer!

Nah, all that unwanted heat can power an absorption system to cool everything down nice! ;-)

What I did was install a legit exhaust fan into the actual wall with a voltage regulator to slow/quiet it down. Works like a charm when you have closed back headphones on and sucks all the heat out cycling fresh air into the room.
