I have had several people send me PM's regarding the desk in the above photographs. It's a Studio RTA Malibu computer desk (Model #13131) that I purchased from Office Depot.
Well, considering that many here are already WITH to I7 my pc is no longer on the list of "top1000" but here he's still running my games, so I decided to wait for the I9 to see how it goes.
Thus, and with summer coming around here I decided to give one last upgrade on the system, changing the Akasa Nero and the chipset cooler, which is a noiser.
I found a 60mm CoolerMaster in my "junk" and it´s very quiet and runs at 4000rpm, doing a good job without the chipset even dream of getting close to the same noise that motherfucker standard cooler that comes in the mobo does.
For the processor I bought a Corsair H50, which is new, but the material I found on the Internet is very good:
I spent a whole afternoon to try to improve the organization of cables inside the PC, but installing the Corsair H50 itself is very simple and quick ... I just tighten the screw before you put the "block" and so spent 20 minutes to install the kit, but I believe it can be done in less time, and it neatly!
Because, unfortunately, with the installation of the radiator panel acrylic for fans of Stacker did not close it, I had to "adapt" a panel in order to bring cold air into the cabinet, since it now runs out in summer would beg to have problems:
These are the temperatures when the system is stock (for now, I'm going to play over after dinner: D), who has encouraged me a lot because they are only 30 degrees lower than with Nero (now is very hot in the room and to the tests I´m not using the air conditioner:
Boot (MCP temperature of 25 ° smaller and without the fan noise standard):
System in Idle, 3min after running the Lynx (the temps fall in practically no time back to when idle):
Maximum temperatures recorded while running the Lynx to test all memory (the worst of the tests):
Final result:
Now I'll play over and come back with new results! : D
Hugs
André.
Here's my PC. The ugly tacky ColorsIt PSU is being replaced by a 650W Be Quiet on my birthday (28th Oct) which will have longer cables so better cable management I hope. Currently waiting for my replacement top fan to arrive from Antec after my current one had a blade break off.
Been reading this thread for a long time (well before I joined), figure I should finally contribute... (Sorry for bad pix, my cell phone is my only camera)
Current setup:
Sorry for the messy desk, many calculus homeworkings to do!
Heres my 900 with the back door on the front (instead of the one with the mesh and window), it did reduce the sound a little bit, but I'd rather just have the window to look at my pretty insides!
I'll be moving my system into my fully modified Shuttle SP35P2 Pro once I get the mobo/psu replaced but for now this setup serves its purpose and was very easy to wire cleanly enough to meet my standards.
-Cooler Master Storm Scout
-ASUS M4A79XTD EVO
-AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE
-OCZ StealthXstream 700w
-ASUS 4870 DK 1gb
-Mushkin 4gb DDR3 1600
-Xigmatek Dark Knight
-WD Caviar Black 750gb
Only "mods" were a stealthed dvd burner, some added cable management holes, painted the IO shield and pci cover black, and disabled the white led's on the Xigmatek fan. OH and I used a Enzotech bracket to mount the cooler vertically on the AM3 socket. If left stock it only mounts horizontally and blocks a ram slot.

I no longer have this. All sold off. Now using purely donated parts lol Always accepting more, as I get better parts, the better the PC I am using will be. ^_^
Just finished transferring all my old stuff into the new case. I went from a Lian Li PC-7B and have no regrets. I added a pair of Gentle Typhoon AP15s in a push pull configuration on a Cool Master 212 heatsink. My q9550 is OC'd to 4.0Ghz stable an is still super quiet.
I've looked around and came across lots and lots of brand new untouched cases which cost hundred of dollars. Only few were hand made, my favorite are the hideous coffemaker, the wooden table and the strange Zenith.
Here is my old codegen which i bought for about 40$ without PSU and spend 20$ for a makeover. First before
What do you need to rebuild and freshen your old case.
-safety goggles
-angle grinder
-2-3 cans spray paint
-plexiglas
-thermal isolation (i used it instead of akasa it cost me only 2$ for 2x1m)
Updating my post from while back. Painted inside flat black, moved the cathodes around and added an HD 4850. Also, apparently my camera sucks, so the pictures look terrible.
