I liked the original and am looking forward to the new co-op mode. However, I haven't purchased a game at retail cost in years...and still have a backlog of games in the queue. Judging from my past history Portal 2 should be fairly discounted by the time I get to it. If I had more time I would pre-purchase though. Looks like a fun game.

lol Gabe is using ep.3 as a carrot to get all the mules buying anything Valve...anything that brings them closer to the promised land!:p

I predict Ep3 will take at least another 2 years. It's the last episode, and they're going to try to find a way to make us all want Half Life 3 by having some shitty cliff hanger ending. You know it to be true.

Nice, it comes out really close to my birthday, gonna have my friend buy it for me for my present, can't go wrong with this. Really looking forward to co-op mode.

I did want this game long ago, but I figured "Valve Time" might have it's release date being sometime when I'm on Social Security :p .

Wonder if there is any truth to a possible April 15th release date, a few signs that point toward it but who knows...one can only hope because really a Friday release is 10 times better then a Tuesday release

Sorry, didn't realize everything was in caps.

Anyways, my question was, if I decide to purchase the PS3 version of Portal 2, will I be able to link my steam account to the PS3 and PC, enabling me to download and play on the PC?

Pre-purchased, the first one was easily with $45 dollars I thought. Should run well in 3D Surround on the PC. No 3D support for the consoles.

Preordered the PS3 version from Amazon. Going to link my accounts, start playing on the PS3 while the PC downloads, then switch to the PC courtesy of the Steam Cloud. WINNING!

Well, they do say it'll be 6 hours long . . . not sure that's worth $49 . . . . .

Last time I've checked, there is 20 hours of gameplay. SP has 10 hours, and Co-op (unique from SP) has 10 hours.

Pre-ordered the PS3 version today since it comes with the PC copy too. Wonder if the PS3 version has KB&M support..?

Also, is anyone else just looking forward to the credits..? Lol.. it'll be hard to top that instant classic at the end of Portal.

That's a damn good idea, I might do that as well. :)
(preordered Ps3 last night from Amazon myself)

I've never tried portal on a controller, but I imagine it would be hard to aim yourself during long drops and what not, not to mention aiming new portals mid-air...I might try it out just for fun.

Looks like that idea won't work, ktr.

Official word on PC/Ps3 integration :)

TL;DR/cliff notes version http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/13/portal-2-for-ps3-steam-details-steam-cloud-steam-play-steam-y/

Steam Cloud saves games but only Ps3 to Ps3 or PC to PC, not one to the other.
Also as most people assumed - you redeem the PC copy via a code in the instruction book.

Well at least the Steam code is in the instruction booklet instead of relying on some server that's going to be killed on launch day. I thought that cross game save thing would be too good to be true too. At least you can co-op cross platform between PC and PS3 players! I only wish it included 360 players too because most of my friends are 360 tards only. I understand why Valve did it though (ghey XBL rules forcing devs to charge for DLC on L4D games).

Well the code has to be put into the same server that's going to be killed on launch day...so there's not a whole lot of difference there.

Yeah, but I was inferring to a 2nd server on the PS Network that would give you a key to activate on Steam (those servers will be killed ;)).

Fuck, if I knew you got a free PC version with every PC version, I would have just bought the PS3 version. I already preordered my PC version. Well, hopefully Valve continues the trend with the PS3. I have both consoles, but I prefer my PS3.

At least you can pre-load it and have it the minute (or few it takes to DL the remaining part of the game) the game launches. I'll have to play it on PS3 for an hour or so until it finishes for me. Hopefully the PS3 version has KB&M support :D. I play my consoles on my PC monitor too so it wouldn't be too different then, hah.

Right now my connection does a max of 30 kBps. It takes days for me to download a game. It'll take almost a month, if I order it. Crysis 2 and Homefront took me a week a piece to download. Think I'll have Portal 2 down next week sometime.

What are you using, two soup cans with a piece of string between them?

I love digital distribution, but I've also been stuck on a slow connection when an awesome game came out. Trust me, it sucks. :p

FIOS now. :D

Will get around to getting the PS3 version (assuming it still will come with PC version for free) eventually, but not right away. I have a big enough backlog as of currently. Maybe by the time I want it I can get it discounted somewhere.

Bummer, that sucks. Valve was hinting cross platform saves, but I guess there isn't any.

Pre-loaded mine, but my mobo is in a box on it's way to ASUS, it's GigE and 2 of it's USB controllers gave up the ghost, right on time!

Good thing my MBP and Server have plenty of power for Science, and cake recipes.

I am prepared for the onslaught of quotes mouth breathers will be spewing all over the internet to ruin the game for me two days after release. I beat the first one twice the day it was released and after a week I was so sick of hearing people talk about cake and cubes. I love the game but let's give the jokes a fucking rest this time internet.

Can't wait to play this game!

One thing I've been wondering is, how much of an update has the Source Engine gotten for this game? The graphics in all the trailers and videos I've seen look amazing - much better than anything from the orange-box era (except maybe the TF2 pre-rendered meet-the-character type stuff).

I've been looking some but haven't found any good info on this yet. Anyone know of a comparison list that tells what differences are in the latest source-engine version? I'm assuming it should still run just fine on any remotely-current hardware, but how big a difference is there in recommended specs between this and orange-box?

It'd be pretty sweet if this game looked anywhere near as good as it does in the trailers, and actually gave newer hardware a workout. Guess we'll find out in a few days either way.

I find it amusing that "people on the internet" ruined your game experience for you.

That would make sense given the rumor that the game will be unofficially released tomorrow to those who preordered.

That would be horrible. I've got a ton of work to do tomorrow. :p
