Just curious who else here is looking forward to Portal 2. Some of the new game mechanics, like the fluids you can use to affect propulsion, "tractor beams", etc..Plus I'm sure the multi-player will be pretty kickin, and I really can't wait to see what the mod community does with it.

I know it's not the latest and greatest Multi-Player Battle game (yawn) to come out, but how many of you are really interested?

Looks like they've added a few new trailers recently as well. They're all worth watching if you're interested.

Looks fun but I'm not sure it adds a whole lot over the first game besides co-op, which to me is not necessarily worth $40 or whatever it is. Probably will get it on a discount later.

The game looks quite good, but I will probably wait a couple days after release to see if there is enough content to justify the full msrp. There probably is.

I'll be eating cake for the forseeable future, however once the price on this drops to something reasonable, I will lay off the cake and try some Portal 2.

Definitely pre-purchasing, especially since I can buy the PS3 version and get the PC version included.

I just watched the advertisement videos they have shown and they sold me. I wasn't sure about robots being used as the characters but it works, and well.

Just a reminder, if you're going to pre-purchase, you can buy the 2-pack and sell the extra copy in the FS/FT forum here if you don't have someone else to go in with. $5 is $5. :)

Also remember, that attempting to find a purchase partner in any area of the forum besides FS/FT isn't allowed. ;)

Calling it now, this will be Valve's best, most polished single player/co-op game to date. :D

I'm debating whether to buy it on Steam at launch or prebuy at Amazon for Ps3 for $10 more with launch day shipping and the $20 future credit (and the free copy in Steam once tied to my PSN account).

I prepurchased it. I watched a bit of the co-op played when I was at PAX and I was quite impressed. When I was talking to the guy at their booth he said both single player and co op campaigns were individually twice as long as the first portal, so I think it should good lengthwise. I'm excited for it.

zero2dash - I have the PS3 version preordered from Amazon for the same reasons you are. Even though I intend on playing it on PC, I really want Steam on consoles to do well.

Well, on the PS3. I'd be blown away if Microsoft allowed Steam on the 360.

Bought it mainly for the coop and since the single player campaign is different from the coop one its like 2 games in 1

Waiting to see how it translates to a 50 dollar game from a 10 dollar one before I spend the money.

Looks good, but I'll wait for it to drop in price. Unless the reviews comeback very very positive. Portal 1 $10 Portal 2 $50 hmmmmm.

I enjoyed the first part quite a bit, but similarly to others I'm not sold on the $50 price tag (or $45 as it is right now). If it really is "$50" good, I'll pick it up immediately after the release, but more than likely I'll wait for the Steam Christmas sale.

I had $15 in Amazon gaming credit from an earlier deal so I pre-ordered Portal 2 last week. According to the developers the game is 4 times as long as the original. Single player is twice as long, and co-op is an entirely new campaign that's just as long as the single player.

I got the first one when I bought the orange box on sale... never finished it. A puzzle, oh hey look another puzzle! Do you ever get to even kill anything? :p

Looking at some of the recent screenshots, it looks as if Valve may have actually abandoned lightmaps in Source and moved to real-time shadow maps. It doesn't seem as if there's any percentage-closer filtering, though. Shame.

Pre ordered on Steam since I know I will "just have to" play it on launch day. Saving $5 on a game I'm going to want to play right away is a nice bonus.

To be honest...I'm pretty down on Valve, especially after Newell dropped the "I went from hating the Cell processor to loving it. I stick them in my **** every night!" and so....I'm waiting to see what happens. Ep3, I'll pre-order no doubt still, but otherwise I'm done with Valve (in no small part due to TF2 being made into a steaming pile of shit. It started as an amazing game and just went downhill.)

Why does that even matter? He complained about the difficulty of multi-core processing for PC games back then as well (seriously), and now that is standard.

The change of heart with the PS3 makes sense after the disaster the Orange Box was on the 360. Microsoft wouldn't allow for Valve to take control of patches and free updates, big conflict with XBL and them wanting to monetize all new content. Sony is allowing for Valve to patch and update games as easily and freely as they do on the Mac and PC, so yeah, it isn't rocket science why he's suddenly so bullish on the PS3.

It's a full fledged game this time, instead of a tech demo.
It's over 4 times longer than the original single player, PLUS it has coop.

Has anyone actually read any of the articles about it?

Exactly. Both the single player and co-op campaigns are over twice as long as Portal. People aren't paying $50 for a "mini-game" like they were with Portal, although IMHO it blows away the majority of full-priced games out there.

Yeah... it's weird. Some people don't seem to care about the games themselves, just the extraneous issues surrounding them.
