Well now you now why we could use the help...got to be #1 again :D

I'm certainly not as hardcore as some of the others here by any means. But here's my little corner of the house. The machine on the left is doing the folding, running Fedora Core 3 x86_64 on an AMD64 3200+ @ 2.4GHz.

wish i could post pics of all mine in a nifty location, but alas all of my boxen are nomadic - they hide in solitude one per office at work, and just the 3 in my room here..

With those reds tucked under there you might want to fold faster....you going to need it :p ;)

jfb9301 what is up with all those fuzzy things on that monitor?

Hey, don't pick at the man... At least it isn't Carebears like those which adorn my wife's boxen. Although I gotta admit that small furry animals do take some of the fun out of looking at DC pr0n.

uhhh.....shudders.....

aggghhh i spy HP units.. suprised they still work :)
so far everything in that box has failed except the mobo and cpu,
PSU and cd drive failed under warenty
ram got fried when i was a n00b and left it on the carpet
its on its 3rd HDD
and it runs 40-45c, im just too lazy to do anything about it

god bless hp

<---werks for hp :) so i know the quality or (lack of) of there kit

some of its quite good but some of it is a total pos

this machine must be 4 years old... so i dono bout now, but back then...

they tried to duct cool the CPU... there is a 90mm fan with a duct that goes to the CPU+sink... this duct is a little to big so it "blows" on the ram, ect... that is the only stock fan beisdes the PSU.

but get this-- from the factory, the 90mm fan is blowing the wrong way it was blowing outwords, and so it made a vaccume right above the CPU sink, which was trying to pull air from it.

this = good design!

when i relised this, and fliped it around, system temp droped 5 degrees c lol.

Here are my rigs:

This is my "office" at home. Two of the computers you can plainly see, can you spot the third? ;) I just got my Hyundai L90D+ to replace my Samsung 900NF so I have a little more room on my desk. I'm gonna buy another small desk next week to put the other LCD and keyboard/mouse.

FoldingAtHome.jpg

This is my lab at university, I just installed Folding@home on them today. They used to be idle most of the time, not anymore!. The first two are P4 2Ghz, the third is a P4 1.7Ghz and the last is a P4 2.4Ghz.

Can't wait till they finish their first WU :D

Is it that small case on the top of the shelf (all the way to the right) with a CDROM drive?

hehe yeah. It's an HP e-PC. It can fit where my sub-woofer is, but it's a tight squeeze and not too good for cooling. I like it since it doesn't take much space and you can hardly hear it, but not very fast (P3 933mhz).
