The New Super High Resolution PC Screenshot Thread

These ACU shots make me wanna drop the cash just to walk around the world. Does it look this good everywhere or just in the relatively close quarters urban areas?

I think he is running 4K. Unless you run at 4K, the AA looks terrible. At 1080 with 4x MSAA (or TSAA) it looks pretty bad. Enough to ruin the graphics. In motion it doesn't look as good either. Characters look very dated compared to other games, and there is an overdone bloom effect. Not as bad as 2007-2008 era games, but it certainly reminds me of it. Fire effects are down right terrible.

Overall, graphically, the game looks decent. Nothing spectacular. Metro, Crysis 3, and BF3/4 look better overall.

I tried DSR 4.00x on my GTX 660 3Gb in Skyrim. I used Ultra settings with 16xAF. FPS range with 60 vsync = 24-48FPS. 30+ FPS was more common than you might think. Low FPS in Markarth was 34. The most demanding shots seemed to be deep shots for forest areas around Riften; those were 28 FPS. Combat could cause dips to 24 with that perspective. I've a 1920x1200 LCD so it was @ 3840x2400 with DSR 4.00x. I grabbed some caps with FRAPS. I did try SMAA stacked on it via SweetFX, it felt a bit too sluggish like that. So these are with SweetFX SMAA off. I did it because I was curious how badly it would kill the card.

EDIT:

I tried DSR 2.00x with SMAA. FPS jumped from 32 to 40 in the Riften Forest. Without SMAA that's 32FPS @ DSR 4.00x. DSR 3.00x dips to 30FPS in the Riften forest with SMAA. So 3.00x with SMAA is about the same FPS as 4.00x without SMAA. 2.00x with SMAA is best if I want to hover around 40FPS instead of 30. DSR 4.00x is too sluggish with SMAA to be played on the 660.

Here are comparison shots from the same save point in the Riften forest.

DSR 4.00x no SMAA = 32FPS

DSR 3.00x with SMAA = 30FPS

Max settings, no AA. Been enjoying this game so much I forget to take decent screen shots, lol.

Not high res, but I didn't want to create a whole thread. Some screen shots of a livery I finished. I am sure some of you will know what game it debuted in.

Damn, Battlefield Hardline looks like shit. I can't believe that's ultra quality. The gameplay I remember seeing with the cops and robber stuff (maybe the SP campaign) looked a lot better.

Been bored lately, so dropped into a variety of games:

With all the talk of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided I had to go back and play Human Revolution again. Thought this shot represented Adam appropriately, lol.

Lastly, after 2 years of piece by piecing my living room, I finally have a functional Console & 4k setup. Expect some 4k shots to start cropping up from me. :D

What's it take to run Witcher 2 with DSR / Ubersampling on @ 60 fps? I thought with a GTX 780 I'd have no problem but it still tanks performance.

Those Dying Light shots look fucking horrible with that chromatic aberration going on. Turn that shit off it's killing the detail.

those reflections look impossible.

Rather than actually doing refelections----most of those trees are probably doubled models, oriented upside down. It was a common trick, before graphics tech got good enough to do proper reflections. PS2 games did it all the time.

The trees aren't doubled, the devs just did a poor job with the water. Looks horrible.

you're super sampling a super sampled image.

the actual internal resolution is probably hilariously stratospheric.

I think he meant one or the other, not both.

The games ubersampling setting is an absolute monster. With all settings maxed, and that on, I'd still get 50-70 fps on 980 SLI. I didn't care for the times when it would dip into the 50's, so I ended up leaving it off, where I enjoyed a much better ~120fps.

Oh hurr durr

Ubersampling is literally just 4x supersampling in game if I remember right, no surprise it's super heavy weight. I dunno why they gave it a dumb name.

She's going to blow Captain! Project Cars @1080p. Yes, the engine is 28 seconds from blowing and there is a contrail of smoke plumes following me. :)

Surprised there are no Witcher 3 shots yet. People are so engrossed they aren't taking the time, lol. Excellent game, possibly the best RPG made to date (imo). Here are some shots, 2560x1600 at max settings apart from grass density and foliage distance (set to hight). Game runs roughly 45 fps on the rig in my sig. The games got graphics. :D

Lol, the grass is amazingly terrible in Witcher 3. Looks as bad or maybe a bit worse than vanilla Oblivion from 8 years ago. wow, even COD 4 did it better.

Yeah if someone could please god fix the grass it'd look pretty darn good. I'm going to play this as soon as the kids are asleep, I am hoping it looks better in motion.

BTW posting the settings would be interesting.

Witcher 3 reminds me of Two Worlds II graphics(except TWII had better water). In other words 5 yrs ago it woulda been awesome graphics but today its just so-so. Character detail is really good though.

if they gave us an option of having grass cast shadows like gtav it would look MUCH better. probably wouldn't be very playable, though. having watch dogs tier water would be really cool also.

Agreed on Witcher 3 grass, lol. But the game nails faces, eyes and most expressions. The story sucks you in so that you're not much concerned with grass.

All that said, the above screen shots were from the 1.02 and 1.03 patches. The 1.04 patch makes several improvements, so I'll try to get some new shots (with settings).

I think Witcher 3 grass looks good in game - but it is always moving...still shots don't do it justice, and I don't think it was built for that.
