My issue is that I don't want to have more than one client. I don't want my payment information on file with more than one company, and I don't want to have multiple accounts. This just creates an annoying fragmented landscape, and adds a multitude of security and tracking concerns.
I was annoyed enough at Valve's DRM. I don't want a bunch more of them.
Opinion is opinion of course but the entire entertainment industry is this way. Movie theaters only allowed to show certain movies from certain movie houses, TV stations only allowed to play certain shows, Cable channels are married to certain content hosts. etc etc. Epic is not the first new launcher to do this, Blizzard, Origin, GFWL, UPlay are all exactly the same. Same example of Amazon Prime, Netflix, HBO and all the rest. They all have separate interfaces with separate account holder info. The only reason for this topic is because the publisher pulled out of Steam short notice and people are unreasonably upset as it somehow suggests unfairness. Thats it. Epic is no worse than Steam, Blizz, UPlay or any other. Competition is good, bring on more.
