The Last Of Us Contains Sex Hotline Numbers

555 isn't suppose to exist? They use those numbers in the movies, tv, etc.

555 numbers are only reserved for entertainment use in the US with normal area codes. I believe you can make an 800 number anything you want as long as it's not already in use.

Nice, just another reason why this game is awesome.

If you have a PS3, it is required that you buy this game.

If you don't have a PS3, it is required that you buy a PS3 and this game :p.

Why is it every misprinted phone number or supposedly fictional phone number always leads to a sex hotline? I have a feeling if I just smash my face into a phone dial I'll get a sex line every time.

Was able to get a hold of the Survival Edition the other day thanks to GameStop's new store pickup feature. The employees can no longer lie about not having something.

I think the NES version of "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" now has a phone number that leads to a sex hotline. Apparently, it used to be a number that you had to dial to receive information that would be crucial to complete the game. :D

It's been about 10-15 years since I've tried, but I sat and dialed random 800 numbers for about 20 minutes once. About 80% were for sex lines. Unless things have changed since then, I think it would be difficult NOT to have an 800 number listed in a game that was a sex line.

I remember calling 555-2368 when I was a young'en.

I'll give a candy bar to anyone who can tell me who's phone number this is. No Googling honor system please.

Which is where the developers probably didn't realize that. They punched in a 555 number for the art and didn't check it - naturally some hotline would probably buy the block of 555 numbers knowing they may be used in a movie.

I'd bet the owner of the number has seen a large increase in traffic since the article was released. :p

Because porn isn't interactive... Yet.
You ever heard of webcams?
But really, interactive porn has been in the works for years. The problem is making it easy enough for anyone to do and have both sides communicate effectively by reducing the "input" lag time. Basically real time force feedback sex toys over the internet.

I thought 1-800-555-xxxx would get you directory assistance for toll free numbers.

Because lots of morons like to call phone numbers they hear on: songs, movies, tv shows, etc.; sex lines know this, and figure it's an easy way to get guys to call their number instead of actually advertising it, also, if it's in a song, for example, or it's seven letters of a common two word phrase (such as f&%k you), it's easily remembered. Easily remembered phone numbers will be more likely to be called than those which are randomly allocated.

Several films and TV shows have used 800-555 numbers without realizing that they could be legit too. Somehow I think the developers knew these two numbers were legit though. What are the odds they would punch in two random 555 numbers and have them both be sex chat lines? Sprint used to have a 800-555 toll free directory assistance number.

Question is: How long has that number been a sex line? Was it after the game came out and someone noticed it and thought they would benefit from setting it up?

Maybe its part of the gameplay exprience the company setup its own sex line just to have people call it lol
