The [H]ardForum Perpetual Freebies Thread

Med1kl, I have a bunch of brand new HP keyboards, nice quiet touch ones, think they are PS2 though

Looking for a lightly used keyboard that isn't grimy. Willing to pay shipping.

I had to do some builds lately and not much of a budget to do them on. I went to Walmart. They sell a keyboard for $10. The brand is Onn and they work great. I picked up like 3 for myself for my crunching rigs. Figured I would hare with you since these are new and not much more then shipping on a used one. Now I tried the Onn mouse it not worky so good.

Does anyone want any of these pictured? The only thing is I cannot test these before shipping because I don't own any DDR or SDRAM systems. I know for sure one of the notebook RAM chips are bad. All I want is $ for shipping and I would appreciate heatware feedback too.

I also have a XFX non ref 4890 HSF that I am not using too.

UPDATE:
RAM gone.

I have a bunch of optical drive units from Lenovo m93p machines, they are dvdrw laptop units, in an external USB case (drive is laptop sata style).
I tested them on 3 machines and they work fine as external drives.
Just pay shipping, think the size is 9x9 inches.
I'll post a pic later tonight
Can you please post a pic? Thanks!

I have a couple at home. PS/2. Dusty, but not grimy. I can get you model numbers when I get home, but I know they are Logitech.

I have coupons on Steam that will expire if they don't get used.

All of these coupons, unfortunately, require that you buy something, but if I save you a few pennies...

Procedure for claiming coupons listed below:

You MUST send me a trade offer through here: http://steamcommunity.com/id/angryrat/inventory/#753

Click "Offer a trade", click "their inventory" and select the game coupons you want.

If you want, I'll take scrap or various TF2 items in exchange. Whatever you feel like getting rid of.

Keep in mind that you DO NOT have to trade anything in return, so just make a trade for coupons without anything in your item box.

DO NOT comment in this thread asking for coupons. I cannot get them to you that way. DO NOT PM me about them, either. Use the trade system.

Steam no longer allows gift items to be send to email addresses. This is why it has to be done through their trading system.

I have alot of mini HDMI to HDMI cables, new, in the bag, about 5 ft long

Just pay shipping (maybe 3-4 in a small flat rate box for $6)

Still looking for a clean kb. :)

Since PS2 keyboards were offered and you're still looking, I assume you want USB?

If so, did you check out the cheap keyboards at Walmart as suggested earlier? If they really do sell them for $10, that would be your best bet as shipping is going to be nearly that much on one. YMMV. :)

I have a eVGA poster. It says art of the game on the top, and has this sorta monster beast whatever you want to call it thing on the front. It came with my 770. It's a little beat up, but not awful. Just pay shipping.

Gone

Does anyone have a 256mb PC100 SDRAM SODIMM that they could chuck in an envelope and have the USPS shove roughly in my direction? I only need one...

Nobody has RAM for me...?

PC133 might also work. Not sure. Laptop in question is a Thinkpad X20.

Hey guys, not trying to steal any thunder away from [H] since this is a great community, but if any of you have anything you're giving away and no-one here wants it, I could really use some help over on a newish subreddit I created over on reddit called /r/freehardware. I can even hook you guys up with some custom flair if you want! :)

I have a PS/2 2 port KVM that's just sitting unused. Has the cables attached already to it. It's anyones for the cost of shipping (~$10).

Does anyone have a single stick of known-working DDR3 ECC UDIMM? Any size will do, I just need to test if my motherboard will accept any sort of ECC, or if it just hates RDIMMs. I can pay shipping or if it's the same size stick (4GB or 8GB) I will cross-ship my RDIMM for your UDIMM.

I might have a low capacity one. I should be able to check tomorrow. If I don't let you know either way shoot me a reminder PM.

Thanks man. Just so I'm clear in my post (i'll edit it once I post this), just looking for a DDR3 ECC UDIMM (non registered, unbuffered) :)

*nods* No worries, I am not confused about what you are looking for, I have a few sticks I keep for testing purposes and can't remember exactly what I have extra of, been away from home for a few days and will (I hope) be back tomorrow and able to take a look at my ram boxes.

my daughter's old dell is taking a dump, if anyone has an old socket 775 processor they arent using I could really use it to get my daughter's computer back up.

What model? Reason I ask, is it depends on the processor compatibility. I have a Core2Duo E7300 but a lot of the s775 Dell's would not support the E7xxx series of chips.

got what i need thanks everyone. hopefully in a couple week I will have some stuff up in here after i get my daughter's computer back in order i will clean out my stash piles.

Sorry I just have replied earlier... all the ram went to user Nostram.

Once I get it and test it/sort it out I will PM you with what I don't need and pass it along if you see anything that you could use.

Anyone got the heatsink/fan assy for a Thinkpad X20? (It's a P3 laptop. Whee.) Trying to avoid fleaBay, as usual. (My hopes are not high, as usual.) Seems it's got a case of fan-doesn't-spin-itis. (It also has a bad battery. Run your hand over it and it's got a bump just past the middle... one bad cell.)

The cooler looks like this --> http://www.ebay.com/itm/261002904772
...except hopefully without the foil-over-yellow-wax-pad badge of thermal shame. Gawd, that crap's actually *worse* than the primer-colored pigeonshit that Dell uses...

Just throw the whole thing away for crying out loud.

Have you tried re-oiling the fan? The fan might not spin if it can't overcome friction from dried out lubrication. Check out this guide:

@shoota -- no. I can do things with this laptop. Pentium 3 may be old, but that doesn't mean it's not /useful/. Especially with the trick I know of using a lightweight Linux distro instead of Windows. (FWIW, I'm now using Puppy Linux full time. Fuck MS.)
@brinstar -- I'll look into that. Pulling the laptop apart now... IIRC the fan spun freely with my finger, but I'll check...

EDIT: actually... worth noting here... I got two laptops and a desktop in this house. One laptop has a Turion 64X2 TL-60 inside, with four gigs of RAM (runs Puppy). That's mine :) Mom has a tc4400 (T7200 and IIRC 3gb RAM, runs W7) for her laptop, and she has a desktop for watching videos (and Tweeting about the videos, and reading news articles).

You know what that desktop has? It has a D525 board from Intel with four gigs of RAM -- but it also has XP so it can only use 3.25gb RAM. That machine is on for about twelve hours a day. Its typical loadout is four or five Chrome windows with like ten or twelve tabs (with one exception). Some are news articles, some are Twitter pages, and she has one window with two tabs just for the vids (video on one tab, selection page on the other). And I'm not talking you know 240p YouTube either -- MSNBC, often live-streaming, with whatever data-hogging settings they give you (there's no options box to change the quality). The only choke-ups we EVER have on that system are when the 'Net bogs down for a few seconds. (Even then, it's minor -- it just skips frames for a few seconds while it tries to walk & chew gum, or rather, load and play at once.) Could she play Crysis 10 (or whatever the big fancy headline-making awesome game is now) on that thing? Hell no. But for what she does it is absolutely perfect. It'd be even better if I could convince her to try out Puppy.

My next system, for the record, will have a T7200 and three gigs of RAM (maybe four, haven't decided). It's on an HP MOCA-AR board I got off eBay for $16. Proc was free from a local friend, and I have the RAM. It will run the same Puppy I'm using right now on my laptop to type this.

tl;dr do not EVER try to convince me that you need the latest and supposedly-greatest (eg Core i3 and eight gigs of RAM) to do basic shit. That's total bull -- and it always has been. If you think otherwise, you've very likely got your head in the clouds. I'm not even kidding.
