TheGXL was established on February 27th, 2004, as a collaboration of local gaming clans and organizations in the DE, NJ, and PA area. This collaboration of resources results in over 30 years of LAN party experience. TheGXL’s goal is to institute the largest and most exciting LANs on the East Coast. TheGXL has ran over 10 events ranging between 70 attendees to 700.

Sounds great, I'd especially get into UT2k4 and Trackmania. Unfortunately I don't think I could ever drive 13hrs for a LAN.
 
man wished I wasn't all the way down here in Texas, otherwise I'd go! besides October 11th in my bday :D
 
This was my first GXL event and it will most certainly be our last: This is a chat log between me and my friend about what happened there Saturday night:

(9:21:35 AM) ME: so saturday night was interesting...

(9:22:26 AM) ME: jim, chris, and mangoz went to GXL
(9:22:35 AM) ME: dan was supposed to go but got sick
(9:22:36 AM) Friend: what's that?
(9:22:38 AM) ME: lan party
(9:22:46 AM) ME: in oaks, like 5 mins from me... literally
(9:22:58 AM) Friend: nice, you went too then?
(9:23:11 AM) ME: i took dan's place for the BF3 tournament
(9:23:18 AM) ME: packed up around 9pm and headed over
(9:23:29 AM) ME: so they clear it with the main guy whos name is Turkey
(9:23:41 AM) ME: problem is thats the only person on the staff that knows about this... more on that in a moment
(9:23:44 AM) ME: so in get in fine
(9:23:51 AM) ME: no badge, they dont take my name, nothing
(9:24:03 AM) ME: everything is going good
(9:24:21 AM) ME: we get to the BF tournament which is lame as shit because its 5v5 call of duty style city maps
(9:24:41 AM) ME: and Nexus gaming showed up, a pro team and we get STEAM FUCKIN ROLLED
(9:24:51 AM) ME: i've never been so beatin in anything I've done in my entire life
(9:25:03 AM) Friend: lol, well, there's no shame in getting beat by pros
(9:25:17 AM) ME: so we're out and i pack up to leave
(9:25:21 AM) ME: heres where the fun starts
(9:25:38 AM) ME: the guy at the door stops me with my all in one box :D
(9:25:53 AM) ME: asks for my badge, and i try to explain to him what happened
(9:26:10 AM) ME: he gets a little confrontational but at this point im still polite
(9:26:25 AM) ME: i sit my box down by the door and goto grab my monitor
(9:26:52 AM) ME: as i come back he displayed some very hostile body language as if he was going to try to take my stuff or do something else
(9:26:55 AM) ME: and i flipped the fuck out
(9:27:11 AM) ME: i dont even remember what was said at this point
(9:27:24 AM) ME: i was coming down off a buzz and we just got our asses beat in BF I wasnt in a good mood
(9:27:34 AM) Friend: lol, it's extremely hard for me to picture you actually flipping on someone

(9:28:28 AM) ME: that was the cloest i've come to getting into a fight since high school
(9:28:38 AM) ME: and it was over my pc
(9:28:39 AM) ME: HAHAHA
(9:28:42 AM) ME: someone didnt insult jenna

(9:28:46 AM) ME: it was my PC!

(9:29:30 AM) ME: the big problem was that turkey was on stage doing some shit

(9:29:45 AM) ME: and it was 2am
(9:30:07 AM) ME: and time after time i was explaing to their staff just how stupid their rule was about the badge and just how stupid they were for thinking it stops anything

(9:31:05 AM) ME: so mr rent-a-cop goes to get another staff member, i explain what happened and of course he cant do anything either
(9:31:47 AM) ME: so rent-a-cop is trying to amass an army of staff members against me
(9:32:15 AM) ME: cuz he knew I was close to walking out
(9:32:24 AM) ME: turkey didnt look like he was any closer to wrapping up what he was doing
(9:32:31 AM) ME: and he was already up there for like 45 mins
(9:32:44 AM) ME: anyway turkey comes over eventually
(9:32:56 AM) ME: and even HE is giving me a hard time about leaving

(9:32:56 AM) ME: This is the guy who said it was ok for me to come in too...

(9:33:20 AM) ME: which again i explain isnt gonna do shit
(9:33:27 AM) ME: just so happens i left my wallet at home... which I guess makes it look even more shady
(9:33:30 AM) ME: wasnt gonna give him my ID anyway
(9:34:00 AM) ME: so that if something does come up missing at the event im the prime suspect

(9:34:43 AM) ME: eventually i think chris or mangos give him their ID in my place which i told them not to do

(9:35:05 AM) ME: i asked him to prove that the shirt on his back was his
(9:35:10 AM) ME: he gave me a dumb blank look
(9:35:24 AM) ME: theres more proof that the PC i have with me is mine than there is the shit on his back is his
(9:35:49 AM) ME: i pulled off the item tag from FITES (which is new) which shows my full name and gamer handle
(9:35:51 AM) Friend: so the point of all this was they thought you were there stealing hardware?
(9:35:59 AM) ME: they thought i could have been yes
(9:36:15 AM) ME: thing is all their "policies" which they kept referencing wouldnt keep anyone from stealing anything
(9:36:41 AM) Friend: and despite the group of people you're there with, they still think you're stealing hardware? Like this is a Vitality Gaming hardware theft conspiracy?
(9:36:55 AM) ME: yea and the three of them are there vouching for me
(9:37:13 AM) ME: worst part is that rent-a-cop was my size too
(9:37:15 AM) ME: not like some big bouncer
(9:37:27 AM) ME: not sure where he got all his courage, or maybe thats why he was amassing a group against me
