Valve will be giving away one 512GB Steam Deck every minute of The Game Awards on December 8th. You need to sign up for the giveaway with your Steam account and watch the awards show through the Steam client. To be eligible your account needs to be in good standing, not be limited, and have had made a purchase in the past year.

If I could just sign up for the giveaway, I would.

I have no interest in watching game awards.

"winner will be announced in chat as each drawing takes place"

so I have to read through all the chat messages to see if I won??...they don't send you a private message or something to your e-mail address associated with Steam?

You get an email if you win. From the rules. "Steam Deck winners will also be notified by email to the email address associated with the winning Steam account; in that email, Valve may request shipping information for the sole purpose of delivering a Steam Deck prize to such winners."

It's a message box under the broadcast. I wouldn't turn chat on because people are spamming "/claim" in it.

Wonder how long those emails will take, have had it running from begining to almost the end now.

So many blank field winners and then the long number 732034294320239 which people where saying were bots.

Who knows if you won or not.

Those were SteamIDs, not bots. The giveaway bot broke for a bit and was announcing by SteamID number instead of name. Person over on Reddit said they won and got an email within a couple minutes of their name showing up, but who knows it that was the case for everyone.

I set it up to run last night. No e-mail this morning. Guess I wasn't a winner.

Well, the show was 120 minutes long, which means only 120 winners out of 132,000,000+ potential entries. Even if we just count daily concurrent users, that is still over 30,000,000 potential entrants. Viewers peaked around 500,000.

You had to be watching the show on steam to be picked I believe. There like 2-300k viewers last night for the majority of it.

I'm sad I missed this. The steam deck would have been a nice Christmas present for my son. Oh well...

Congrats to all those who won!
