“This deep-dive, full documentary of Intel's American Fabs, focusing on Fab 42, Fab 32, and Fab 52, digs deep into the construction and usages of "fabs." A "fab" is a fabrication facility focusing on silicon wafers, ultimately used in CPUs, GPUs, AI processors, and other technology. Intel's new fabs are being constructed all over the world, and we got to visit the new Fab 52 in Arizona, adjacent to Fab 42 that we toured in-depth. This video features the basics of how a CPU is made, the types of machines that are used to make CPUs, processes, and gives a physical sense of scale for a fabrication facility. We wanted to truly capture how large and complex these "mega factories" are.The equipment shown in the video includes lithography, photoresist applicators, deposition and diffusion machines, and more. This video features expert interviews from both independent and first-party Intel engineers, technicians, and analysts. If you've ever wanted to see how a CPU is made physically (with supporting 3D animations ..”

Generally speaking I like Steve and his channel.

But I don't think this new fab sees the light of day under the Intel brand. I think it gets sold to TSMC.

Wow, really wont be an intel fab? :/

TSMC would never be allowed to buy an Intel fab.
It's almost as if everyone is just listening to the rumors and treating them as facts. Intel has gone "bankrupt" how many times as per these youtube donkeys best sources? lol...

Yes, Intel is in trouble, not what they once were, insert other generalizations here. They are also still a behemoth company, the scale of which not very many people can even picture accurately.

People also have very short memories of other #2's in history who were much much smaller, and had far less interesting things in the tank but they ended up turning it around! (while facing the "end")

A processor world without Intel isn't some Ryzen paradise with well priced chips for all, AMD is a company that serves their shareholders and they would LOVE to be the "old Intel" and be able to do and charge whatever they want. What we need is constant vigilance and to stop allowing these companies to get away with antitrust behaviour. (cough, green video card manufacturers, lol)

In 6 months, if TSMC isn't headquartered in the US I will be very surprised. When that happens they can buy anything they want.

This mini world war we've got going will cause China to take action on Taiwan and the US is the haven for TSMC.

Good read, if accurate, it sounds right off the bat, from the top that TSMC had preconceived ideas that made this transition so far fail. I would expect 6 months at least language classes for the new hires, tools for translation and so on. Not as if TSMC is funding the whole project.

As for giving them 6.6 billion, I sure hope it is contingent upon well defined progress, with workers, plant progress and so on.

As for Intel, they get the benefit of these very unhappy engineers to their own new fabs and know how to operate in the US. Now we will see if Intel can be successful with their 18A process and blow away TSMC with their 14A node.
