Black levels is problems with every LCD... I have a modern S-PVA panel famous for it´s black levels still doing night racing the contrast is so poor I have to make everything grey anyway... S-PVA panels also looses detail in dark scenes. So that isn´t a show stopper for me if I want the best image I can get I get a CRT or plasma. I use LCDs because they are practical...

I am considering buying this as a gaming screen. No input lagg is important because it´s frustrating on my S-PVA panel... There doesn´t exist any S-PVA model that don´t have noticable input lag. Mine actually have less then most but still since I race a lot that is important. larger widescreen CRT:s sadly isn´t produced those would be way superior for every task :(

So the best you have to take into consideration that this is a relatively cheap monitor. Most monitors don´t have HDCP so it´s a plus you can actually use it on a PS 3 if you don´t happen to have a second tv...

For the money it seems to be a really good monitor but if you pay you can get better. But impossible to get one with less input lag and less ghosting which is two of the big problems with the LCD technology.

As albovin asked, is this really better than a TN?

(I'm not up on TN panels, but I know the numbers don't look good for a PVA....)

You bet it is better than TN, if you actually get it with a MVA-panel. There's a lottery going on, so you don't know if you get it with a TN- or MVA-panel.

Here is a little user review: http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fforum.hardware.fr%2Fhfr%2FHardwarePeripheriques%2FEcrans%2Fcomparatif-hyundai-iolair-sujet_41531_1.htm&hl=en&ie=UTF8&sl=fr&tl=en (translated)
Looks like a decent screen to me, and the user seems to be happy with it.

Here is a thread were they are discussing the problem with different panels:

Well, blacks and contrast ratio (0.35 at 200cd/m2) isn't something to brag about, but atleast you get great colors, viewing angles, true 8-bit color and ZERO input lag. I would easily buy this monitor, if i knew i would be getting a MVA-panel. :)

I heard only in england there is TN panels around. And as long as the specs says 180 and not 160 you should get the MVA panel... I bought from Pixmania and since it´s a french company I do hope they ship the monitor from France and not UK and don´t lie with the specs.

How do you check what panel you got? I really don´t want a TN panel...

press MENU + "+" same time.

Had one for about a week. Had to sell it because I found it too bright (the brightness control doesn't affect backlight).
However not all people is bothered by it.
This is indeed a very nice screen. Much better than ANY TN based screen and yes the input lag is next to zero

o crap hope the listing is right... I ordered a "6ms" version... Concerning input lag is it as good on all these panels that is the main concern...

Which panel is the best P MVA or AMVA??

I knew I would get TN... Hope I am wrong but it darkenes if viewed from below and gets brighter from above. From below it´s like the colours get hollow and inverted?

panel says LG LM240W03-TLAI? Anyone have tweaked this screen it looks pretty weird by default. I only run VGA as of now.

You got a crappy TN-screen. I warned you. :)

Sounds like a plan. Send the VA panels to reviewers, use lottery mode on consumers and dump crappy TN's on them. Great plan. Would definitely give my money to this corporation!

Do you know the panel so you can say for sure? Problem is I have never seen a MVA panel and use a S-PVA all the time so not sure what to expect...

But if I look from below the screen wouldn´t get this hollow effect and inverted colours on an MVA?

Regardless of what you hear, MVA and PVA are visually very close, except for PVA's superiour blacks. Neither darkens significantly from below. I've seen both and their visual characteristics differ in an extremely subtle manner.

It's a TN.

ok yes this goes almost completely black :(... I mean without MVA with it´s zero input lag there is no selling points for this monitor... I haven´t done the input lag tests yet I don´t detect any really that is still much better then on my S-PVA monitor. Feels comparable to my CRT will try it tonight. But anyway with TN I must assume there is some input lag and with no adjustable stand, the way it swivel if you nod it. (doubt I can use it on my cockpit), plastic it´s really not cheap anymore... Though of course the day after I ordered it they lowered the price by 90$...

My Sony KDL3200 walk all over it in every regard except input lag and so does my new old apple 21" crt studio monitor in everything except sharpness and perhaps input lag.

Hopefully pixmania won´t argue about returning it since they lie with the specs and viewing angles if I must go TN I am sure there is better then this maybe even for less money.
