the file name is too long. deleted file, trying to restore previous version.

someone deleted a file that is buried in a bunch of folders with a long name. we need to restore it. i went into previous versions and found the file but i cannot do ANYTHING with it because the file name is too long. all the tools out there to fix this are for files that actually exist (this one technically doesn't because it shows up in previous versions).

how do i restore this?!

have you tried copying/restoring to a different location first?
another thing to try would be to map a network drive to 1 folder before the folder where the file exists then try the restore previous version

tried your first thing and no.

figured out creating a share one folder up was the way to go. thanks for the reply though!
