In a new paper just released, Reuters is reporting that the FBI is issuing warnings to critical US businesses of the danger of being targeted by Iranian hackers in an operation named Operation Cleaver. The FBI has warned defense contractors, research firms, universities doing studies for the US government and utilities of looming attacks that may be waged on their facilities in the near future.

In case you needed the point stressing any further, this week's hacks on Sony have shown the damage that can be done through infiltration of IT systems — and that was just a movie-maker. What could be done if defense and energy companies get that thoroughly hacked is just plain scary.

Why does the FBI think that businesses care about security?

Did you even read the headline?

"defense contractors, research firms, universities doing studies for the US government and utilities"

Sounds mainly like governmental or government connected companies.

Besides, do you think Iranian hackers care about what the FBI says?
