The Fallout New Vegas Thread * will contain spoilers *

Okay I've got a question on what to do next in the main quest. Possible spoilers ahead!

I want to do thr ncr storyline, and I just got to the strip and finished By Bye My Love, which gave me the quest How Little We Know. I also have ring a ding ding to finish, and I also have The House Always wins. Since I want to go the NCR route, is it "safe" to do the mr house quests or omcherta quest? Or should I just go straight to the Tops and look for Benny?

Also, why does my game chug so damn bad on the strip and nowhere else?

I just went through that part and I think I am on bad terms with every group. The quests all kind of meld together and it seems easy to get on good terms with any group you have wronged. So I am not sure how much the order matters.

Boone is a crease, he broke out the minigun for the first time last night and hosed a bunch of Ghouls, funny as hell.

About the BOS

Ah, had him kicked out and replaced by his right hand man, it seemed like the right thing to do at the time, they were suffocating underground. However if that means I have to blow the place up if I want to help the NCR with the dam (my initial plan) then I might aim for an alternate ending with Mr House...despite playing for 45 hours I have no idea about house and the dam or any of the main line quests with them factions, I've done all the quests outside vegas more or less but nothing on the strip yet.

I like boone alot. ED-E well not so much although he does have great enemy scanning abilities his fighting abilities are sub-par and I have to watch him a lot so he doesn't die.

Overall not so impressed with companions as I didn't use them any in the first game however Boone did manage to help me take down about 10 deathclaws at one of the junctions so that was pretty bad-ass.

Overall I'm level 16 and the game is starting to get pretty easy now that I've found the rat rifle and the special sniper rifle, with those two weapons I can kill just about anything. For some extra insurance though I think I'm going to power achemedies and then go cleans the legion as I joined them last time and this time I'm definitely going independant or NCR.

As far as the Remnants power armor, there are two ways to get it. You can team up with Gannon, take him to 3 specific locations (Crashed Vertibird, REPCONN Headquarters, and Silver Rush) and he will open up dialog. Also having ED-D helps gain his trust. After having Gannon and ED-D around for so long, towards the end of the the game (some where with in the final quest, whatever one you choose) you will get an update to the ED-D quest saying that he has some sored data about the Enclave that was triggered by some key words. Shortly after this Gannon will open up dialog again, this time telling you about his past with the Enclave. Once you complete the quest for Gannon, you will get Remnants armor in perfect condition.

Spoilers below...

Beyond The Beef
FINALLY!!!! I figured out how to get Ted Gunderson back to his dad Heck.

If you are having a hard time getting the kid through the Gourmange restaurant try going the opposite way through the basement tunnels. You'll end up at a door that says White Glove Society Members Only. You may get mugged by all the white glove members so you may want to kill the two flame thrower guys in the basement first to get their flame throwers. Makes the fight to the bank room a lot easier. Once there grab your gear. Lock, load, and blow everyone away. Make sure Heck doesn't die. Once the dust settled I was able to take Ted to his dad and complete the quest. What a pain this one was. Damn bugs.

mildly spoilery about the Beyond The Beef quest:

I took the boy into the member's only room where all the bigwigs are have a special meal when somebody tricky gets up to make a speech about their heritage. I snuck into that room, so that some of them wouldn't attack on sight. After the speech was over, I walked around and and they didn't seem to care that I was in there. Without giving too much away I did also expose somebody while in there. The boy was good for that.

if I didn't sneak into the member's only room, a few (not all) did attack on sight.

Just bought the game, seems good so far.

Spent a while resolving issues though. Fixed the microstutter with the New Vegas Stutter Remover. Added the dll for the graphics slowdown. Fixed the mouse lag with the .ini additions and also used the fast movement mod to make running faster. Happy with it now, but what a faff. Every Bethesda game has been a PITA to get working correctly this is no different.

Exactly, although this short into the game's life out on the streets we're further along then we were this same amount of time with Fallout 3. Considerably so.

Know this:
If you choose to oust Elder McNamara you have to blow up the BoS bunker if you choose to fight with the NCR at the Dam. If you do not oust him, you can open up dialog to form and alliance with BoS and NCR. This is all assuming you are going to do the "For the Republic" quest line, and not help Mr. House or the Yes Man.

So if I dont oust his ass and work with him they get to stick around right?

For some reason I can not find a way to Ranger Station Foxtrot. I walked around for about an hour last night without any luck. Any thoughts out there?

I don't have the speech or the caps to get into the strip, and if I attack the robots they slaughter me... Sad day lol.

get up enough levels until you can give yourself the perk that shows you the locations of everything on the map....makes life SOOO much easier.

That's an essential. That's one of the first things I get every time.

Go into the White Glove Society Room and stay by the door you came in. Let Mortimer finish his speech. Go to Mortimer at the podium, take the option to tell everybody about Mortimer with {attack} after it. Kick Mortimers ass, and every body else will leave you alone.

okay guys so far I've found 3 companions.

*spoiler alert*

1st is ED-E @ Mojave Express building, Primm [you need to fix him up, but John Nash will give him to you if you do]
2nd is Boone @ the dinosaur building, Novac [you need to finish the mission he gives you first, its quite easy]
3rd is Veronica/Monica [can't remember her name] but all you need to do is talk to her, shes found in Trade Post 118.

Cass is at the Mohave Outpost, but you have to buy her caravan company from her. You get that quest from working for the Crimson Caravan company. Dont take her to see the people at the Silver Rush, they just kill her and you lose her on the spot.

Take the monorial at Camp McCarran.
That's how I first got in there, without even knowing where it would take me to :D

We certainly are, nothing can be as bad as the problems you had with FO3!

I think the community learnt a lot from the last iteration as the fixes have come thick and fast

Here's the links to the fixes / mods

Stutter Remover (this requires a nocd exe to get it working, couldn't getting it working otherwise!)

There is other options for getting into the strip as well, there is a store in Freeside with a couple of guys, one at the front of the store sells fake passports, you might need a high speech or barter skill to get him to give that option however.

You can also "hack" the sentry bot, I think it's a high science you need for that, you get a dialogue option to read out some hex codes and the robot bzzts for a second then lets you in, I used that option despite having about 20k caps anyway xD

Yes.

If you do oust him anyway, the only other way to have the BoS stick around is to do the Yes Man ending. Yes Man will ask you how you feel about all of the different factions in the game. When he gets to BoS you can simply tell him you want the BoS left alone.

You can get the passport for free if you do missions for The Kings. The King will owe you one favor; I chose to get the passport for free.

I usually don't bother with that perk because I like to explore so much. However, I have the location of Ranger Station Foxtrot marked on the map due to the quest where I have to go to every Ranger Station to update the transmission codes. I just can not seem to find a way to it through the mountains in that area. The two nearest locations seem to be the Bootleggers shack and the plant Vault (can't remember number, 3 maybe?). I am assuming that there is a path that I am just plain missing.

So as is customary when I play Fallout games, I'm stockpiling caps. Sitting on around 24,000 at the moment, but I want MOAR. Any good way to earn caps without resorting to doing loot hauls?

lol, is there anything to spend those caps on besides mods/AP ammo, gambling, and implants?

I'm interested in money making schemes without loot hauls too. My vendors keep running out of money too.

the cap bug works great if you are in short order.....

I find I buy ammo and not much else. But to me, it just isn't Fallout unless you're walking around with a shitload of caps.

I'm not really looking to exploit any bugs or anything. Beyond the occasional compulsion to turn off clipping and fly around (necessary due to the overabundance of annoying clip boxes in this game), I try not to cheat/exploit in RPGs.

Good times in Fallout 2: selling all my weapons and armor to the merchant in San Francisco, then stealing it back.

There is so much you'll miss with this unless you really go hardcore and just wander into areas where there isnt other quests and whatnot, you can use the radar to spot undiscovered locations but often they are tricky to get to.

Some of the stuff I found after this perk include free power armour in a cave full of epic deathclaws, and the fatman after going through another cave and coming out the other side, erm...and a whole bunch of other stuff.

Um, I tend to pick up weapons from dead people and combine them to make 100% repaired weapons which sell for a lot. I also tend to pick up only items with high ratio of value to weight, meds are best for this since they don't weigh anything. Sell guns, ammo and armour you don't actually need, once you're rocking energy weapons you can dump all of the crap shotguns etc and all their ammo.

There isn't really an easy way to get rich easily, you just have to scavenge as you do missions.

Well primary repair of things hard to repair like power armour, that can easily run up to 3-4k alone, repairing guns if you dont have spares for parts. Buying up meds like radaway and stimpacks, buying up plenty of ammo for your best guns.

The vendor I've found to have the most money is the ex-NCR arms merchant at route 188, she stands by a truck with crates on it, at the end of the south bridge, and sleeps nearby at night, she has between 4k-8k caps on her when I visit, and restocks.

Yes.

Yep, I didn't need it from him, actually I still need to pick a favour, I don't think there was anything terribly interesting in there, I was going to wait to see if I can fix his dog first, then see if the favour can be used to take him as a pet :)

Took me over half an hour and many cazador deaths before I got it.

Go to the north-west part of the map... you will find a road there. Follow it till until you come to a branch which goes south towards the mountains. Follow that southern road, and at some point you will see a dirt path leading left. That path takes you to the camp.

Also, follow that road south all the way to find a very interesting place ;)

I just bought the Brush Rifle, Anti Material Rifle, and Light Machine Gun last night. I'm guessing these could all be found as loot? I blew about 20k counting ammo :(

If you kill the deathclaws at the quarry, seach the nest of the Mother Deathclaw, there is s light machine gun there.

See if you can get hired as a hooker in one of the casinos. :D

Ok, maybe not....

Something is triggered when you speak with her. As far as the automatic hostility, and assuming you didn't steal from her, try reloading a prior save. I've occasionally had npcs become hostile for no apparent reason.

So, being inspirired by the person that created the "Russian" I decided to do a themed approach as well.

I created a melee, sneaky character themed as "Dexter" from the show... Dexter.

So far, it's been extremely entertaining. I must now ponder other themed approaches.

Oh I forgot, the rare novelty snow globes sell to House for 2k each, if you're desperate you can probably find a list of their locations, although I've found 3 just by being thorough when exploring.

haha...that was me :)

Huuuurrrrrr....I'm the russian, boolets don't hurt Russian *thump*

Enjoy it, Dexter is a fucking brilliant show, loving the new season :)

Could try winning it big in the casinos for those extra bottlecaps. I had like 4000 bottlecaps by the time I reached New Vegas and I stayed on the slot machine using maximum bids. Eventually I got three oranges and it paid out something like 33K bottlecaps. Then a guy from the casino walked up and banned me from gambling anymore at that branch. Went on a shopping spree at Gunrunners shortly afterwards! The combat suit mark 2 is pretty nice and finally acquired the almighty sniper rifle with piles of specialized ammo though I'm still hunting for the silencer mod.

How many points do you have in luck to win big like that? I'm betting luck plays a part in that win...I have mine set to 1 :)
