The Fallout New Vegas Thread * will contain spoilers *

I just helped the legion overtake the entire Vegas area. Awesome ending although with how it ended it really makes me feel like I missed out on a huge amount of quest so I think a second play-through really feels like it's in order.

20 Hours or so to complete first play-through, I'm sure on the second play-through I'm going to explore much more.

Damn I'm about to break 100 hours and I've just begun the series of events that sets the final battle in motion. Being very thorough with this game. :D

I'm not sure what to do any more!

Do I turn off Mr.house or do I keep helping him?
I'm on part 5 of the house always wins, but I don't want to set the self destruct in the BoS bunker!?
I like the BoS.
The NCR don't like me anymore.
I killed Caesar.
Haven't met the khans yet.
Just got power armour training and went to go find the remnant armour.
I'm 40 hours in.
In a bit of a quandary; Think I'll just wonder about a bit more lol

last night I went through vault 22 (or 21?, one out there by Jacobs town) and explored everything but didn't accomplish anything? Did I miss something or is there a question that would have sent me there that I haven't started yet?

also, the dam is HUGE!! I actually got tired of exploring it last night and stopped playing...

Is it the one filled with plants?

Because if it is, then you need to go there as part of an NCR quest.

yea the plant one...Does it have something to do with the gas? I know remember I have a quest that deals with getting rid of some kind of gas and I did pick up 6 filters in the vault.

Also, what is the best way to deal with the radiation in vault 11? My best radiation armor (space suit) doesn't help me long enough to survive very far. Or do you just keep taking radaway (or whatever the item is that buffs your rad protection)

really? The space suit worked fine for me. I just got the minimal 1 rad/sec. I just didn't sit around in the water. Are you sure you're not dying from drowning?

Whether or not you help Mr. House is up to you. If you are already not idolized by the Boomer's do so. They are a good help.

As far as the Remnants power armor, there are two ways to get it. You can team up with Gannon, take him to 3 specific locations and he will open up dialog. Also having ED-D helps gain his trust. After having Gannon and ED-D around for so long, towards the end of the the game (some where with in the final quest, whatever one you choose) you will get an update to the ED-D quest saying that he has some sored data about the Enclave that was triggered by some key words. Shortly after this Gannon will open up dialog again, this time telling you about his past with the Enclave. Once you complete the quest for Gannon, you will get Remnants armor in perfect condition.

The other way of getting the armor (depending on your level and weapons) will be hard, or annoying at best. This requires you to go down to Cotton Cove, swim across the lake, and walk North along the shore line until you find a gap in the mountains you can walk up. Walk up this gap, and look ahead. Walk straight to the back of the mountain line in front of you, then turn right hugging the mountain line. You will come across two dead bodies. One with the Remnants armor (in poor condition) and one with T-45d (in okay condition). You will also find the multiplass rifle. This area though has about 15-20 Death-Claws guarding it, and is not an official location on the map.

If you have trouble here is a video to show you where it is: Remnants Armor.

There is a Radiation suit in the game and an Advanced radiation suit, as well as power armour which also has radiation resistance, finding them all is not trivial though they're either hidden or require quest chains to get so typically you get them later in the game, you can use the fallout wiki to see where/how to get them.

You can take Rad-X which decreases radiation intake, and you can use RadAway to actually remove radiation poisoning, or visit a doctor and they'll charge you caps to remove radiation poisoning.

I think the space suit is the same as the advanced radiation suit as far as radiation res., except the space suit also has better DT.

I finally found a good place to level up earlier in the game! Down in the lower right of the map (near the lake) there are hordes of fire geckos that do minimal damage to metal armor, give you 50XP per kill, and even have fairly valuable eggs they drop.
Now I'm not quite as worried about exploring and getting killed in 1/2 second.

My only gripe is there are some things in the game that just seem to flat out ignore armor. What's the point of having good armor if the next thing you fight just takes a crap on you. Granted, since I found the unique version of the Guss Rifle, and Plasma Rifle I am almost one hitting things in V.A.T.S.

I do like having upgraded weapons though. Also is it just me or do most of the ordinary weapons seem like trash? The sniper rifle, and the unique version of it (the one with the desert cammo skin) are awesome, and the marksmen rifle is good. I found a mini gun and it does little to no damage, and so does the assault rifle. I remember in FO3 the mini gun and assault rifle would chew things up. My GUNS skill is 85 btw, and I have armor piercing rounds for said guns. Energy weapons on the other hand do a shit ton of damage. Granted my energy weapons is 100, with the laser perk.

I just cleared out the entire Legion fort last night - got tired of them so I busted out the Cowboy Repeater (fully modded) with 500 AP rounds, Bounty Hunter Duster, 1st Recon Beret and Sunglasses. Took Med-X, Psycho and unleashed hell.

Very satisfying!

I also have to decide how to deal with the Brotherhood of Steel guys - not sure if I want to unseat the one guy or leave him in place.

Know this:
If you choose to oust Elder McNamara you have to blow up the BoS bunker if you choose to fight with the NCR at the Dam. If you do not oust him, you can open up dialog to form and alliance with BoS and NCR. This is all assuming you are going to do the "For the Republic" quest line, and not help Mr. House or the Yes Man.

Question about the Brotherhood. Need a little help:

How important is it to help Ibsen clear that virus out of those computers. How do you do it? What's the best way to do it?

This all depends on if you want the BoS to like you or not. Getting on their good side is a great way to get power armor training early in the game.

As for the second part. The easiest way to do this is tell him you will help him. He will explain how it must be done. After telling him you are ready he will begin. Wait until he says the Virus has jumped, pause the game right there, and create a save point. The virus jumps to a random 3 computers each time you fail to contain it, and you only have 10 seconds to do so. Making a save point will keep the virus on the same 3 computers. This way you can take your time in figuring out what computers are infected. Once you have all 3 nailed down, revert back to that save point one last time and contain the virus on all 3 machines.

^^ I'll try that. :)

The BOS quest chain more or less starts there, you need to clean the virus off the computer to get information off it. Just speak to the guy in the room with glasses, he's the head scribe and will let you attempt to clean it and give you instructions. It's actually not very hard if you quickly flip through the terminals, remember that clicking the mouse as the terminal is typing off text makes it appear instantly allowing you to speed up wizz through the bad terminals

So if I have already killed Ceasar - do they still figure into the ending?

When you walk around the NCR people will talk about wanting to have been there when he died (have no idea how they know). You have to remember there area load of legion troops you can't get to...

The space suit is +40 rad res, the regular radiation suit is +30, not sure about the advanced radiation suit. Either way, I tried wearing both suits it vault 34 (i think thats the number) and they both resulted in me still taking 1 rad/sec.

I gave boone a Power Armour and a rare plasma rifle, with lots of ammo.

Easy mode!

I think that if there is radiation, you will always get 1 rad/sec no matter how high your medic->Rad-X is, and no matter how strong the radiation suit is. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I've never been able to go under 1 rad/sec.

I've been running around with Lily... and she/he is pretty silly at times. I went to Novac and he/she started going on about the Dinosaur and asking me if I wanted to ride it.

also I meant vault 34 before not 11. 11 was no problem at all.

Yeah, I need to go to that area to see what's going on with Best Friend Tabitha and Raul. Is that where you pick up Lily?

Lily is a nightstalker from jacobstown. he/she is just a nutcase mutant. She'll follow you around if start one of the quests from the doctor in Jacobstown. Jacobstown is in the NW corner of the map up on top of the mountain.

oh boy! I like the BoS, I should've gone with the latter but I didn't :p, apparently my decision will blow things out of proportion ;)

It's crazy when you load Boone up with goodies and put some Power Armor on him. He and ED-E combined are just insane for me. It's almost too good. ;)

Yeah I have to admit that this kind of killed any difficulty for me. I got both of them early into the game and it was pretty smooth sailing from then on.

For some reason Boone likes to randomly throw his weapons away. I swear I constantly check on the condition of the sniper rifle, but I always randomly hear him say something along the lines of needing a new weapon only to discover he permanently disposed of the fully customized sniper rifle I gave him. If he sheds this bad habit he would be my favorite human companion. He's so damn deadly with those rifles and looks awesome in the NCR Ranger Combat armor. Not to mention the spotter perk is great for sniping in the waste.

I find it annoying that switching weapons doesn't always work when in the middle of combat. Probably happens when finishing up some attack animation.

Does hit happen when weapons get removed when going into casinos?

I've got Boone travelling with me and have loaded him up with only a .50 cal rifle mod. No armor or anything else. He does very well whenever there are threats to the front or either side but not so good when getting flanked.

We were at the rock quarry and somehow a Death Claw got behind us. I didn't hear a thing except for the scrape of the claws and animation of my character dying. As I've leveled-up it seems he's improved but not as much as I'd expect.

On a game performance side note, up until last night I had been experiencing hitches, hiccups and occassional CTDs. Rig in sig. Applied all the fixes, adjusted timings...everything I could think of. Nothing helped.

It was only after setting everything back the way it was previously then raising the CPU core voltage up 0.0125v did the issues go away. Thought I'd throw this out there in the event people are experiencing the same issue.

Possible Quest spoiler below................

Beyond The Beef

I got the kid Ted Gunderson in tow. But he won't leave the Gourmange (however it's spelled, the restaurant). Supposedly I'm supposed to leave the casino and fast travel to the north gate and he will be with me. This doesn't work! I fast travel and he's still stuck in the casino. I want to finish the quest by rescuing him. Anyone got any tips on how to fix this bugged quest?

Did you speak to his dad?

I like boone alot. ED-E well not so much although he does have great enemy scanning abilities his fighting abilities are sub-par and I have to watch him a lot so he doesn't die.

Overall not so impressed with companions as I didn't use them any in the first game however Boone did manage to help me take down about 10 deathclaws at one of the junctions so that was pretty bad-ass.

Overall I'm level 16 and the game is starting to get pretty easy now that I've found the rat rifle and the special sniper rifle, with those two weapons I can kill just about anything. For some extra insurance though I think I'm going to power achemedies and then go cleans the legion as I joined them last time and this time I'm definitely going independant or NCR.

No...happens in the middle of combat at any given place. Just happened again near the crashed Vertibird earlier, he threw the Sniper Rifle away for no apparent reason. Still had about 100 rounds of .308 left and I checked the durability on the rifle earlier and it was around 75%. It wasn't even on the ground when he switched to his original hunting rifle. Don't tell me they throw the weapons away once it hits the less-than-maximum-performance mark...
