Scientists who analyze the environmental impact of the internet tout the benefits of “dematerialization,” in that streaming eliminates physical materials such as discs and cases, but there may be a major exception: porn. Some believe that digitization has increased the overall consumption of porn so much that the principal of dematerialization gets flipped on its head.

Grayson says he has witnessed this explosion of growth firsthand at Evil Angel. He estimates that the site’s viewership has increased by 7,000 percent since the time of DVDs. In the late 1990s, he says, a new Evil Angel DVD would sell approximately 7,500 copies in the first 30 days. Now, he says, Evil Angel videos are streamed 30,000 times in the first 30 days

porn is still a good business thing. even with all the piracy

simple fix to your post

I am also left wondering what was the environmental cost of this study

So he witnessed an explosion first hand? Does he really think he's the only one that happens to when you watch porn?

Look, humans have been jerking it for ages. Once you find out what it does, you find a way. I have found memories of a Good Housekeeping magazine when I was a young lad. It's all we had. Florence Henderson. You know what I'm talking about...

Was that a Wesson Oil add? :p

Let's see the environmental cost of scientists fucking around with studying this kind of garbage.
