I'm really looking forward to Warlords. We need some new content for this game desperately. Inventory management was probably my biggest gripe with Div2. Even with 300 stash space, I'd still be full with items that I think would be good 'later on', but later on never came. Even with targeted loot it was still difficult to find that certain backpack or chest that you needed for a build.

So with that said, for those who are definitely going to buy Warlords, you can safely trash most of your items now. Being the new level cap of 40, all of our current gear will be obsolete. I kinda want to start anew again anyway. I will probably trash everything except the exotic weapons and gear. I can't delete the current Eagle Bearer just yet. Just start with 1 loadout and hit the streets of lower Manhattan gearing up again. I hope it will feel like a new game again with the whole gear revamp. I can't wait to go back and try Dark Hours and then later on we get the Foundry.

For those who still have yet to try Dark Hours raid, seriously give it a go, hop on Discord find a group. In my opinion it's one of the funnest activities in the game. It's such a different feel than your average mission. I hope they don't abandon making them after this 2nd one comes out. Someone asked about them doing more on the SoTG but they were non-commital. We need one for every faction.

It's good to read this thread again, I haven't been here in a while. Frraksurred I hope to see you in game soon. Let's squad up again.

So like did they ever explain what the fuck is happening with the rest of the world or did they just let America completely sink

Dude, I would take vacation and abandon Destiny 2 altogether to Squad up again. You know I am always down for a game.

SotG for the 27th:

There is too much here to try and summerize. I may edit with some bullet points, but I'm at work at the moment.

Outside of the huge content drop & end game rework that is coming with Warlords of New York (whether you buy it or not) is a new "Seasons" that is cut and pasted almost directly from Destiny 2. This means new themed content every 3 months that will come with an additional progress bar similar to your rank. You will level up your Season Pass rank each Season and get rewards for each level. It is a system Bungie encorporated after becoming self published, in part to help them finance further Development. The tl:dr is expect lots of new monetezation options. Massive is not an Independent Dev, so depending on how far they go with it, this may be Ubisoft testing how much they can get away with. The Season system itself can be fun, offer a lot of additional unique rewards and activities... it is the Store items it can spawn and how they manipulate gameplay to funnel you towards it that I will be keeping an eye on. Bungie has already adjusted their approach based on Community feedback, so we'll see if Ubisoft includes those lessons, or just goes straight for the unabashed cash grab before players wise up.

In any respect, there is a lot of good in this SotG, with some concern as well.

Not a fan of the seasons thing in Destiny 2. Its one on the reasons I quit playing. Maybe they will implement It better here so I will keep an open mind for now.

Accidentally posted this in the The Division thread so reposting here.

Picked this up for $3 because why not. The RPGness of it is a still a turn off for me, but I will probably get my money's worth if I play a mission every few nights or so. I have zero interest in PVP though due to the RPG over FPS mechanics. The loot so far is kind of boring, but I am always disappointed in loot in RPG games. Somehow no one ever has much if anything on them when you kill them even though they were just firing shots and grenades at you. Of course you would also be swimming in loot if you could truly loot every dead guy.

I do wish some of these gun RPGs would actually break down firearms into their various components so you could find those upgrades instead of just a slightly better version of the rifle in your hand. If you ever saw the Borderlands mod that let you custom generate your own firearms I want something like that but in the game.

I also wish donating weapons had more of an effect, but maybe I am too early. I just wish you actually started to see more armed civilians working the surrounding areas as you donated gear. I have seen this a little more since my original post, but it looks like the friendly AI is braindead compared to the enemy AI. It would be nice if the friendly AI somewhat leveled up as areas survived longer and longer. Of course I also keep seeing my areas easily being taken back.

I think ultimately I have come to realize my biggest annoyance is I don't see myself ever getting the amazing action movie scenes you could potentially get if not for the RPG factor. For example I was doing an early side mission for batteries and fighting 5 or 6 enemy AI. At one point an enemy flanked me and was running at me just as my magazine ran dry in my rifle. I switched to pistol and shot him 12 times in the face without killing him because apparently my pistol is too low of a level. Then I got hit by a heatsinking molotov or incindery grenade from a guy who was out of range of my grenade throw. This made the moment go from cool to ok this is stupid.

My PC is apparently minimum specs which goes to show how long it has been since I updated. Last build was BF4 launch. Game still looks at plays fine though.

I'm pretty sure donating the equipment does have an effect. I spent a good amount of time leveling the Theater camp up and then the patrols were better armed, more aggressive (still probably agree their AI is not on par with enemy), and more patrols. Also I would come across patrols actively engaging purple and yellow randomly and somewhat holding their own.

I was getting pretty good loot pick ups when those purple and yellow units became more frequent. Sometimes can feel like the loot grind is a bit blah, but when you find a good orange high end especially with mod slots that can change things pretty nicely.

This is some thing that was added in a patch
"Friendly NPC Changes

  • Civilian Control Point Officers now wear protective body armor.
  • Civilians with fully upgraded Settlements now wear combat harnesses and have slightly more health.
  • Upgrading a Settlement now slightly increases Civilian damage.
  • Civilian NPCs will now stay further away from players in cover, lessening the chance of them taking a player's preferred cover location.
  • Civilian Hostages are now more protective of their lives."

Well RNG hates me in loot games so at level 11 I still have a level 5 pistol and a level 8 rifle. I found a M1A1 which I enjoy, but I usually prefer stopping power with a slightly slower RPM though not on a bolt action level. They sure do like to give me double barrel shotguns though.

Make sure to look around everywhere in the game world, there are lots of chests around with random weapons or gear inside usualy just a bit out of your way., also keep an eye out for fenced doors with a lock you can shoot on them.

I haven't played this since June. I quit when they made certain loot only available in the raid. It blocked content from solo players.

That said, should I get the expansion and come back? Is the first year pass worth getting to easily unlock the added specializations?

This. I love checking out random alleys or underground parking to find random chests. In the beginning I came across those locked fence doors and was thinking, "oh you must get a key later on, to access these". Meanwhile I'm standing there holding a 7.62 MK17...Doh!

$3wave agent here. This is a damn good game; almost addictive. I don't usually go after this type of game but I'm having a blast with it.

Picked this up for $3 because why not.

There is a HardOCP Clan in the Division 2. Not many of us left there, but if you're looking for a fully leveled Clan to start off in, search it and send a request to join. One of us will get you cleared.

Thanks, I do this and early on didn't know about the yellow locks. I finally got a couple of decent upgrades, but nothing to replace my M1A1. I have gone from only finding shotguns to mostly SMGs which don't fit my playstyle.

Don't worry too much about gear while leveling, worst case use something that's not your playstyle for a bit, you will find plenty good ones, later in the game you can craft your own, and go for targeted loot. That should help quite a bit.

It is more just trying to get used to the game design. I die a lot if I use SMGs and more close quarter firearms since I underestimate the number of shots it takes. I end up trying to walk down enemies only to do a mag dump with the guy still running at me. With slower rifles I keep myself at distance so it happens less.

I think it might also be since the graphics are on a lower level with my rig it is tough to see sometimes and even with the 4x scopes it is tough to pull off important shots. I also haven't found a rifle that lets me do both scoped and ironsites on the side rail, but this may not be a thing in this game based on how few slots most firearms have.

I did try the co-op assist which was ok, but it was a pain to figure out how to leave the group after. I then found out of course it takes me to them, but leaves me in that spot so don't assist when you are close to something you want to do unless you feel like hiking back.

While I don't use them much, LMG's are pretty decent, me I go mostly for AR's, with a sniper rifle on my main, also choosing the right abilities helps a lot, for me that's the turret and seeker mines, use cover a lot and you will be mostly fine, just watch out for the dudes with the shotguns they like to hone in on you.

The 1-30 climb is probably the most enjoyable part of the game, at least it was for me, have ranked all 4 players now. Don't feel rushed, enjoy yourself. I often kept an LMG on me for the Heavies and Bosses, especially when forced into close quarters. Outside I liked to Snipe and keep a medium to long distance, AR's are perfect for this. Up close, shotgun or SMG. Once you get to End Game, things change a bit because specific perks and stats start to matter more, and set certain guns and gear apart. During the Campaign, it was more about what archetype fit the situation. Don't forget your Skills either, the Turret is almost like a second Player, especially once you learn how to place it up away from where NPC's (especially Heavies) can get to it. The Seeker Mines are some of my favorites, but this depends on your Play style. The Hives that buff / debuff can be helpful if you prefer to be on the trigger rather than casting a Skill. There is a lot to play around with in this game.

Is having the reviver hive still almost mandatory as one your skills?

I picked this up at $3. I haven't fired it up yet. Still picking through the remains of Ghost Recon: Breakpoint after beating the main story. Sounds like it is similar. Never played the The Division.

For solo, YES. Holy shit has it saved my ass countless times.
Yeah, solo is the only way I play.

Still thinking about coming back for the expansion. Can I progress well and get good gear at lower difficulties? I have gotten to the point where I just want to relax and have fun when playing games.

I have been using scanner and turret as my skills, but I haven't tried the reviver hive. The turret is helpful, but placement is always a pain. I usually have to play with it longer than I like just to get it in an elevated position. Of course I miss sometimes only for a yellow to walk up and stomp on it.

Define lower difficulties, WT5 and normal to hard missions are pretty easy to me and is what I usually play at with around 500 gear score, challengins is somewhat harder, but I cleard 1 mission yesterday without much of a hassle. I do not rush things though when I'm playing seen a certain clan member rush all the time and me having to pick him up all the time too :p .

The most annoying bit imo in this game is the mobs you have to fight against, the ones with the exploding drones are a pita as are the healers who keep rezzing but since they change aound each week ymmv.

I am WT5. I remember when I last played the control points had to be played at Challenging I think to get crafting recipes to drop.

I would prefer to play at whatever difficulty is fun without it restricting me from getting crafting recipes or gear.

I keep getting stuck with projects. I can never find the events I need. Right now my last project needs aid rescue. Of course all I seem to get are public executions.

This has always been an issue. I tend to find I would stumble across it when I was not paying attention, or as soon as I started working on something else. It's like the game KNOOOOOWS.

For those of us still trying to connect to the Warlords of New York Title Update 8 today: Server Maintenance was completed about 0600 CST, roughly an hour past schedule, but their Twitter was keeping us up to date on the issues they were having.
Unfortunately now we have an "Echo 07 Error" that is preventing most from connecting. Massive says this is a new issue they have not encountered before and it is taking them longer than normal to resolve it. Their Twitter Rep has conveyed their apologies repeatedly.

https://twitter.com/TheDivisionGame/status/1234472356015415298

We are continuing our work on these errors. We will regularly post updates when we are making progress. We apologize for the inconvenience.

https://forums.ubisoft.com/showthread.php/2194234-ECHO-Investigating-the-ECHO-error-messages

We are having issues finding the underlying issues for this problem and it's a new issue that we haven't encountered in this way before. Unfortunately this means a solution for this is taking much longer than we would like. We want to express how sorry we are about this and it's definitely not the service we want to offer.

EDIT: 0930 CST - I'm finally in

So far so good. I made into NYC, got things off the ground, and I am getting all the safe houses up and running and then will start working away at criteria.

How do you find Cassie Mendoza the vendor these days? I don't see the shopping cart icon on the map.

Skills are pretty fun

I went to NYC, stacked every piece of skill gear I could find, and the rolling cluster bomb shit is hitting for over a million total damage. By that point, they're probably on fire as well.

You have to find the Snitch first. He is usually out the South door of the 1040 Safehouse, left at the columns, left again at the end of the columns, then you should see his green icon. If not just google his 7 possible locations and start your trial and error. Talk to him, then Cassie's icon will appear, but sometimes it takes up to 12hrs for her to actually set up shop. Not the best system imo, but she does have some decent gear if you're still doing the climb to level 30. If you're starting Warlords, I'd wait until level 40 to bother with her.

Several people matched notes with me in the clan chat last night about a glitch where safe house NPCs do not talk like we need them to for quests so I hope that gets fixed soon.

This was fixed in this morning's maintenance. I confirmed in game shortly there after.

The NY update, is that part of the first year season pass or mandatory DLC?

Separate. TU8 is free for all, but the Warlords of New York & Seasons update is paid DLC.
