What the fucking fuck. I have an old usb steering wheel. Windows 8 detects it fine and installs drivers. In the controller setup in windows everything works as it should.

However, in the crew, its only detected as a gamepad, so the wheel is either all the fucking way to the right, or all the way to the left. I can't adjust the deadzone in the game as it thinks it's a gamepad..

So I figure fuck it, I'll use my PS3 controller. Get motioninjoy installed. It works. Load it up in the crew and IT FUCKING THINKS MY PS3 CONTROLLER IS A WHEEL.

So, I'm suffering the same god damn problem with that. No good steering, and I can't use the bumpers as throttle and brake as for whatever fucking reason that makes me look right and left when left and right has no buttons assigned for the 'wheel'

I'm going to have to go out and buy a fucking wheel

Nice bait thread title.

Indeed. Problem isn't the crew game, it's just pebkac begging for attention by poking at a hot topic falsely for extra clicks. Oh, and the op seems awfully obsessed with the F word, it's a little disturbing!

Yes because other games work with said steering wheel. PS3 controller works fine with every other game as well. If you can't get 2 input devices that work fine in every other game to work in The Crew, then something is broken.

Come on man, it's a brand new release, you know you have to give them at least a few weeks and/or a couple of patches to fix it all. :D And after all of the delays, we knew it wouldn't be pretty.

I've stopped buying new games. I'm going to wait until they not only get cheaper, but get all fixed up.

you should have participated in the Beta and let them know about the issues.

So glad I skipped every UBISOFT game this year after WatchDogs. I played the open beta for The Crew and knew it was trash then.

Honestly if you buy an Ubisoft game at launch and have a bad time you only have yourself to blame at this point.

They should make you sacrifice a goat for buying the shit. But seriously, if you feel compelled to buy it, wait until the nest game in the series is about to come out. Usually the game is able to run by then and it only has 20 hours of game play anyways. You can be up to speed on the series a month before the new release, and not miss a thing for 1/10 of the original price.

What exactly is wrong with using the F word?

More like any major game without reading the info and reviews in advance... not sure why anyone ever has been pre-paying and full-price pre-purchasing with no refunds available in the first place (it's a bad proposition, who cares about some donkey color skin, really, for that risk!), but they have been and they're starting to get burnt understandably as a result because it's a silly thing to do in the first place. It doesn't matter who the developer is, prepaying with no refund before launch is just a big risk to be burnt, same as any other industry. This shouldn't be a shock to people but I guess today's entitlement attitudes and "I'M THE SPECIALIST SNOWFLAKE!!!!!" makes them think they're safe?

I agree. I come from the generation that stuck with a particular publisher through thick and thin. But when it seemed that the publisher started taking us for granted, then we would dump them for another love affair with someone that cared for us as gamers. I am simply perplexed by this current generation of consumers that Preorder games from a publisher that is well known for releasing shoddy code on day one. And so many people vehemently stand up and defend the publisher's actions!

I could see if this was an indie game made by a 5 man crew borrowing money to buy food to feed their family. This is a huge publishing house that simply doesn't care about the consumer. Preordering a UBISOFT game is the same pissing your money into the wind, as by the time it is half ass fixed the game will be at least 50% off. So not only are you pissed that it doesn't work at launch, it is half price on sale by the time it does.

It is just damn confusing to understand why people torture themselves with shoddily coded games at launch when all they have to do is wait for the manufacturer to release working code before buying it. I think these ADD / ADHD diagnosis and treatments have destroyed the underlying fabric of an entire generation. If this is some type of evolutionary response from nature, then our species is doomed as we have lost the ability to know that fire is hot and we need to remove our hands from the stove.

Step 1: Switch F710 to "x" mode.
Step 2: Plug in mini-dongle
Step 3: Play game.

Simple as that really, though I didn't exactly buy the game, was "free" with the video card. (already owned a copy of FC4 when I bought the 970)

pretty straight forward

Yeh, I didn't buy the game haha. I got it free with my GTX 970. I franky don't care who the publisher is of any game. They've all made horrible games and they've all made good games. I bought a cheap gamepad thingy and it seems to be working ok.

Game seems pretty good. I've had a couple server disconnects in the past couple hours of playing.

Is it worth buying? Seems from the thread, the consensus is no.

I prefer to play this on a controller instead of a wheel.

No. Just look at the Ubi forums for this game and you'll see why. Biggest gripe is the developers went back to the ancient way of tying everything to frame ticks instead of time delta, so you get the Quake 3-effect of being able to move faster and jump higher the better your framerate. People on all platforms are also having progress within their save files disappear.

Honestly, I'm not surprised by any of this at this point given the stellar year Ubisoft has had .

That's the one I have. Has the bug been resolved with regards to the inability to join a crew? I'm not buying it if this massive bug is there.

Game works fine with a Xbox 360 wireless gamepad, ditch the ps3 controller.

As said, i'd feel bad? But Ubisoft. this is like buying an EA game and expected it to work out the box

Seriously. These kids and their "steering wheels". What are we, 9 years old?

I actually tried playing this game with the rockband drum set. It went okay.

And I didn't even need a note from MA MA

I don't know, that kid looks pretty engrossed. He MIGHT be on to something. :D

Going to have to agree. You are just asking for punishment.

Stop buying Ubisoft seriously. If you want them to end this shit don't preorder their crap and do not assume it will work day 1.

What's up with you constantly talking down to people, calling them kid and such?

Kinda astonishing coming from someone who's post history is filled with statements beginning and ending with "rofl", "lmfao" and "lol".

"rofl...something something Mdollarsign lmfao"

Oh relax honey. It is said with love and semi-respect. And I'd be a hypocrite if I was completely serious - my best laptimes are with a Fischer-Price.

Like the game so far. I'm in Miami now with a super Mustang.

There is weird stuff and bugs and also the collision versus players is not good at all. This is unfinish imo. But there is an option to turn it off and it is set only by the admins that I think have win race because I've set it once after winning a race.

I will play this game until I finish it and I think this is a must for the racers around.

I forgot to say that it appear that not much players are on my server because it take a lot of time to find players for races. But the game is so well done that you can do some other stuff while waiting. But than after a race you're stuck a room and can't do something while waiting...

I also forgot to say that at first the sound was not so good to my ears compare to other racing game but now I'm use and it's all fine.

Ubisoft has made a good game at some point in time? Interesting.

Why is everyone shocked yet again, that a video game is yet again released with large bugs? patches are coming.

Weren't a lot of people with access to the earlier preview versions saying the driving-physics were worse than GTA5? That's pretty bad for a game that mostly about driving...

Game works fine with a Xbox 360 wireless gamepad, ditch the ps3 controller.

Doesn't even make any sense, the xinput drivers for the PS3 controller make the programs recognize it as an xbox controller.............

What's sad is that I still haven't found an arcade racer game that is as fun as Hot Pursuit 2010 was.

So what's the general consensus on this game with you guys. Worth it? Will you be playing it?

No, and not unless it goes on sale for <$10.

Here's the good parts:

The game looks decent, and driving cross-country and exploring the roads is kinda fun(Especially in some of the mountainous and canyon...y? regions). In small doses, some of the "racing" content is fun.

The bad:

The story is abysmal. The driving physics are nowhere near what I want out of a racing game but I'd hesitate to call them objectively "bad". The game's "diversions" get boring after maybe...the second or third time you do any one of them. The mission structure is hugely lacking, and the multiplayer content is as well. There's a huge sense of missed potential when playing the game. In the beta I kept wondering "Why is it that the only time I ever go on the roads between cities is to get from one mission hub to the next? Why can't I get a mission where I have to go steal a car in New York and deliver it to Chicago? Why can't I get a raid car and take on an armored car crossing the canyons in the southwest?" Maybe that stuff just wasn't in the beta, if it's in the main game then that would shift my price point up by a fair margin...but I'm doubting it is. The car upgrading system will leave you wanting if you were hoping for anything that resembled...you know, how an actual car works. If that's what you're hoping for, you might throw up in your mouth a little the first time you see "+2 grip" on an exhaust system.

Overall it's a game with a big scale but a tiny focus, and you can feel it in every mile. For $10, it'd be fun to get and mess around it, even just to spend some time driving around the map and seeing the sights and driving the roads in a couple different cars. For $60 + microtransactions? I'm avoiding it like the plague.
