The Chinese Social Credit Score System Has Already Been Implemented

China taking street cred to a whole new level. We'll see how long this lasts before theirs a revolution.

So glad to be an American.

Lol if you think this won't be implemented here in the next twenty years at most you are kidding yourself. The only difference is google or facebook will roll out their version first and once all the morons get on board with it because yay I unlocked a new avatar, the government will pounce and implement it in force.

Our government is just as much a police state as China they are just sneakier about it and don't waste time cracking down on inconsequential things like video games. We may live in a more gilded cage here but it's still a cage.

I'm afraid this is true or coming true. Not just here either look at the crack down on internet porn in the UK e.g. It's depressing...maybe it's just the pendulum swinging and it will swing back, probably not in my life time though. Sadly I meet people all the time who seem to want this (so long as it doesn't actually effect them personally...though of course it will). Power corrupts absolute power corrupts absolutely...very true.

I would be so screwed if i was Chinese.

BTW someone said only the Chinese would turn guns on their own citizens, that i am afraid are a big mistake, pretty much any gooberment will do that if they get the chance,,, and thats a little chance.

For the Americans i hope they don't get another 1968 that was a pretty lousy year for America in many ways, and the Democrats national convention in Chicago ii think it is safe to say that the "dogs of war" was unleashed on regular folks daring something as simple as protest.

Back then it was just sticks people got to eat, next time they will probably eat lead

Glad we will never get there. That would require lots of surveillance and snitching, which does not exist in the US.

edit: adding /S since no one can figure that out.

BWAHAHHA. Frickin' morons in America self report via social media. Give it a couple of years and this will be implemented in Kalifornia.

No we have too many people here who have guns for the government to feel safe enough to do this. Too many people who feel strongly about being oppressed.

That is why the 2nd amendment is constantly getting attacked. I expect to lose it in the next 20 year. Once the snowflakes start getting inot office. Then the government will have no fear of the people and compeletly take over our lives. Just like in most EU countries. We won't be far behind China. Hope I am dead by them.

An unknown that they will pass on in favor of someone that they have better information on. Anymore, not having social media to a hiring company is like showing up to an interview looking like a bag of crap. Could be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but dressed like you don't even care about yourself, why would they take the risk?
Well duck em then. I'm not doing social media.

They won't know it's happening to them because it'll be gradual. Look how much life has changed since 9/11 for example, we've lost a ton of freedom since then and now we accept govt and corporate data mining of personal information as normal. The same will be true in the future as they gradually erode our rights, the next generation won't know any different.

Been saying the same for awhile now. Things have advanced enough presently that I can already visualize generations in a decade not realizing what's been lost in the last 30 years.

This however is shocking to see in light of the public image of China as a whole. On one hand those of us aware of human rights issues have kept a watchful eye our whole lives and seen the many horrific realities. On the other China has enjoyed modern media to help define a somewhat almost Disneyesque image that many believe. I still regularly meet seniors who've vacationed there and come back saying what an amazing place it is.

It can be an amazing place while still being a horrible place to live for its people. The land is beautiful and they have some amazing history and food. One could say the same of Iran or Iraq even (except maybe for the food part). That, however, doesnt make it a good place to live or a good government to live under. Its really easy to visit a place and see only the good because you dont have to live with the bad day to day.

Time to dump your apple stock. Huawei phones only in China, if they want to increase their S Credit score!

I like how buying video games is considered the same as traffic violations in this system.

Fucking old people.

In Greece Video Games are Illegal because they are considered gambling, there are countries with harsher laws, I am not condoning them for what they are doing here, but they have been opening up the country for years little by little, my theory is they want their own version of Capitalism and Democracy with a mix of Socialism, the problem is they see the west and all the problems associated with our system so they don't want to fall into the trappings at least that is my theory from speaking with Chinese over there, they want to remain socialist yet they do want the core of Capitalism and Democracy without the drawbacks. Remember their history its screwed up by a large margin and tbf I do think at one point things will change but they are desperately looking for ways to control the worst parts of our system. Looking at the glass being full here....even though by definition the glass is always full.

Despite all your rage you're still a rat in a cage.....yada yada. I remember feeling like this as a teenager.

Back to the real world, It'll never happen in the US. Read your history. Besides that , its every American citizens duty to overthrow a government that isn't by a for the people. It always makes me laugh when people state that they are being oppressed here in the US. We live in the greatest country on earth and are free to do anything short of oppressing another person.

If you don't believe that then, well, I hear China is nice this time of year.

I would be interested in some examples of what freedoms have been lost in the last 30 years. I am not being mean or snarky here I just to know what you are referring to.

EDIT: For clarification. Freedoms in the US. Not anywhere else.

I'm reading a lot of joking and sarcasm about how America will never get there, but ...we already are in almost all ways.
Just with a different set of rules based around "freedom" ...with exceptions, and through tinted glasses.

I have nothing against ANY country wanting to encourage its citizens to be productive members of their society.
How they go about enacting such however, can of course be a concern.

This is a law that's being used to regulate behaviour and morality of humans.
That's no different than what we have here with the single exception of the consequences of what is deemed "bad behaviour".
We have "no leash" laws.
We have "no smoking" laws.

However here in America when you break these laws only your social status with the local town/city, state or federal is affected, and it's isolated to those immediate areas and does not impact other areas of your life in most cases.
IE you pay a fine, perform community service, probation or other consequence such as being banned from entering a location or taking your pet to public places.

This was a fine system that self-regulated itself, as there was still honor and people cared about how they were perceived in society.
Now, we have people (usually born in the 80s and after) that don't care how they are perceived by society, and as not all consequences impact EVERY area of ones lift, there are a lot of unproductive, negative and downright hostile attitudes and behaviour that wouldn't have been tolerated 100 years ago.

All forms of government are looking to minimize that kind of behaviour, and that's not a bad thing.

People spout "don't take my freedom" like they have a right to be a jackass to another human over the most ridiculous and irrelevant of things, and well, you don't.

I would love to see what would happen in this country, if say your income was docked .05% per instance of being hostile/rude to another person on-line.
Oh what, the negativity around the internet dropped 99.9999% in a day? So much freedom lost.

As a species, we're going to be need to become better versions of our current selves, or we're simply not going to survive comfortably.

hint: best not to leave pictures of you doing stupid crap on a public profile.

In today's world you should never take a picture you do not want the entire world to see. Period. It will eventually find its way into someone elses hands no matter how careful you are.

lol okay if you say so.... Our company also checks social media too... I keep my profile private and no pictures for them to make a public ID :p.

hint: best not to leave pictures of you doing stupid crap on a public profile.

Its not me saying so, its the law. But okay. Not to be toxic but if you actually read you would see that keeping things private keeps you safe, they cannot ask for access to any social media accounts or to be "friended" if that is necessary to read your social media shit.

Look into how hard it would be to get rid of it--constitutional amendments are not easy...stop worrying your guns are safe (and mine, yes, like many liberals, I own a gun). We are in the USA not China...very different governmental systems. And our problems also are very different, they have bad pollution and population troubles (sure we have this too, but to a much lesser degree).
I think these kinds of things are interesting how long before the Chinese people get tired of this level of intervention and intrusion and get new less dictatorial type leaders...or maybe they will love the benefits and keep going?

what law specifically states that companies cannot do online searches for you? I do not live in californiafuckedupland so....

please be specific

Jesus, kids like you are how atrocities like China's cultural revolution took place. I hope you are in a very small minority of future authoritarians but have seen others like you (usually born in the 90s). There was previously a level of common decency that kids like you constantly mock and lampoon because it also required a level of work and standards. You would justify cheating in school as morally relative. Sorry, but I absolutely have the right to be a jackass child, and the fact you need mama gubment to protect you is a horrifying reflection of your lack of individuality. You would love to see my income docked by what YOU define as rude/hostile. As defined by you little fascists in training right? Much like your "hate/thought" crimes? People like you are an example of a devolved species if there ever was one. You are one sad individual.

You should have the freedom to be an asshole, you should just know better not to do it.

Learning to be a better person comes from examples and teaching, not legal restrictions.

Something about "The more you tighten your grip....." and something about starsystems slipping etc etc.

It is about picking the battles right? If I (I being the government) punched you in the face each time you mispelled a word because I felt that degaded society overall, is that where it has gone too far or not? You aren't being a good person if you are only doing it under threat. You are just being controlled.

So wait...does this mean that if I have a high enough social credit score I can bang my mistress and my secretary as long as I make up enough positive points to offset the negative ones and there isnt shit that the wife can do about it? ;)

Define "old" People

My parents where born in the very late 1940's and where in their mid/late 20s when Pong then the Atari 2600 came out-and they played it. I was about 3 years old when the 2600 came out. My old man still games once in a while on his Xbox or PC at 71 years old.

I'd say the people in power (well at least in the west) should have some expereance with Video games..."should"

In china the cameras are watching you all the time. So its not only what you do online, but what you do in RL as well. My guess is if you meet with someone that has a low score. Your score will go low too. Now guessing here. But when your score gets low enough in china. They may send you off to a training camp. Cause at that point you're probably not going to be able to buy food, rent an apt, do anything but starve to death.
And you can't ask someone to buy or do something for you cause their score will drop associating with someone else that has a low score.

So you get a really low score in china, you're done imo

We are pleased to inform you we are raising your social credit score due to outstanding donations!

However, we are unfortunately lowering your score dramatically because it was found that those hearts and kidneys were not your own.

That's how I know you're not living in a country that is too corrupt. You lucky bastard

I watched all four season of Black Mirror this past Feb when I had the flu-I love the show! That was one of the best episodes.

That was one of the most terrifying episodes, I could not stop thinking about it.

Alex Jones sees conspiracy and MSM lies everywhere. He's often correct about the facts
I'd take an Alex Jones...who can be listened to with a critical ear over SJW/perpetually victimized whiners/MSM propaganda machines any day of the week.
They see racism/patriarchy/oppressors/sexism/insert damn near any -ism or -obia everywhere. They're most often wrong.

Nowhere in that study indicates that the frogs are turning "gay". Going sterile and changing sexes? Sure. I don't see how that abounds to a leap of faith about the US government turning the frogs gay. Of course, that was all really just a dog whistle about the purported "homosexual agenda". You'd think that the EU would be on this conspiracy, and not have banned that same pesticide to turn their own frogs gay. France should practically be a gay utopia by now .

I'll take your Patriot act, and up you Obama Care & 14 Trillion debt. Have you been able to keep your doctor?

Federal debt is meaningless. Japan has a near trillion dollar debt at the federal level and their economy is booming. Learn about Modern Monetary Theory.
