Only six? Guess the SJWs will have more to complain about next year.

Many of the best games of the year just so happened to feature some awesome women characters. We're not just talking about the prototypical "strong woman character" (although we love them and you’ll find a few of them are on this list as well!), but an assortment of leading ladies who were interesting, fun to inhabit and ultimately human.

Of those games the only game I played was Life is strange. I only played it for about 30ish minutes as I got it as part of a free bundle. I didn't like it so I can't really say much about it.

Isn't everyone who doesn't believe every woman needs to be barefoot pregnant and in the kitchen a SJW now? That term seems to have lost any credible meaning. As in anyone who uses it instantly loses all credibility.

SJW never had any credibility.

You'd probably be hard pressed to find many good characters in any of the games this year, much less female ones.

It's just part of the name-calling thing that people have trouble growing out of even as adults. When they feel threatened by something and it's not like a violence kinda thing, sometimes their first instinct is to lash out. In this case, they do so by using this SJW thing-y as a made up insult.

"SJW" and "white knight" have become some sort of magical incantation, the invocation of which banishes the possibility that institutionalized oppression even exists, pretty neat trick that.

This is the first time I've ever seen the term. I have no idea what it means.
Social Justice Warrior (SJW) is a pejorative label applied to bloggers, activists and commentators who are prone to engage in lengthy and hostile debates against others on a range of issues concerning social injustice, identity politics and political correctness. In contrast to the social justice blogosphere at large, the stereotype of a social justice warrior is distinguished by the use of overzealous and self-righteous rhetorics, as well as appealing to emotions over logic and reason.

This is the best definition of SJW I've ever found. It comes from KnowYourMeme, which traces its origins back to a blog post made in 2009.

Nah, this is part of their "we finally won!" narrative where they show that there were never any good female protagonists in video games until they finally pointed it out and set those evil developers straight (and by straight I mean LGBT friendly of course). And yeah I'm talking about another article they did basically saying this.

The complaining articles come after the new year "Its 2016, and this is what we need to change that went wrong in 2015 for women in games!"

I only played Undertale and TW3 of the games listed, but Ciri's character was great. Undyne was good, too, but the story-driven gameplay of The Witcher made Ciri's development quite fascinating (esp. for those of us who weren't familiar with her from reading the books).

P.s., thanks Armenius.

I had to look it up, but that's a better definition as you said.
